    Imagine if Goodell ran things for the NHL..

    Things would be much different in my opinion.

    Any idea how long the current shmuck is contracted for?

      At least we wouldn't be looked at as a joke. Rules are meant to be enforced. The NHL is a joke.

        i agree, the fact the rules get thrown out at the most important part of the year is beyond me.

        but that is the game we love and its been that way for a long time.

          The Chara decision was to the rules. the rules is clear - if the instigator is an act of retaliation the suspension is lifted.

            If the instigator is an act of retailiation, how the **** does it get called an instigator in the first place? You either instigate or retaliate- it can't be both by definition.

            that's the problem with the NHLs rules: too much ambiguity written in and too much subjectivity in enforcement.

              Can you really blame Bettman on the rules? he doesn't make them... He does all the other ****ty stuff like fix the NHL lottery and put the NHL on a crappy TV station that only 1/4 of the country gets. He's one of the main reasons hockey is below the WNBA and WPS...
