Says "I can make all the throws, and its not like I don't know how to read a defense."

also says he has played under center in the past.

I remember Jaws talking about how impressed he was with him when he sat down and talked coverages/fronts with the kid.

He sounded pissed that he was the 10th QB taken and taken behind another QB in his conference that wasn't as decorated. I like that. I also like that he's played from under center before and has been working on it for awhile now.

in the lockerroom it had #17 next to Jacksons name when i went on the locker room tour, so i dunno lol

Throw him in the mix... he should have as much of a chance as the other 3 on our roster since they all suck so bad IMO

I would like to see him wear number seven. Maybe he can redeem the number in Bills fans' eyes.

Everything I've heard about the kid has been good so far. I doubt he's going to start in this league barring injury or sitting starters for playoffs (HA!). But, I would love for him to be this miracle story and have him turn out to be our Tom Brady +1.

Chances of that happening: .0000127 in a million.

But even still, a Bills fan can dream...

He has a super quick release it's impressive. Watch him throw (http://www.nfl.com/videos/nfl-combine/09000d5d816d0d89/2010-Combine-workout-Levi-Brown) at the combine.

Who the heck knows if this kid can make the grade, but it certainly doesn't hurt to give him a shot. Lord knows the Bills are long overdue having a competent QB. I give him about a 1 in 6 chance, but heck, that's almost Fitzpatrick's completion percentage.

If Fitz wasn't such a scatter shot throwing, I wouldn't have taken the cheap shot. He seems to have the rest of the ingredients, just not a consistently accurate arm.

Please no number 7! We've already had enough disappointments with that number!

Go with 7. Considering his striking similarities with Losman, it fits him.

I like the kid's confidence but I bet he catches some flack for that from the other QBs and vets.

We should let him learn under Trentative.

" Don't bother progressing through your reads. Just throw the quick swing pass to Fred Jackson every play. Then look good jogging off the field prior to Moorman punting. Post game, blame the OC . "

Hmm..on second thought..

Nobody is learning under Trent... That's Gaileys department and the QB Coach....

Trent will be learning too, 1st time he probably has coaches that will teach him something at this level. :star:

I like a positive attitude, and a bit of arrogance, but remember, Losman was EXACTLY the same way. Hopefully Brown has more brains than Losman.

It's obviously just highlights, but I liked that he had the accuracy to hit his players in stride. Definitely will take some time to develop, but I wouldn't be surprised if he got some PT late in the season, after our 8th or 9th loss.

The positive and arrogance is about all they have in common and doesn't mean squat in the big picture. Just like Jaws was high on both of them... but for different reasons. Jaws loved the physical attributes of Losman, he never praised him on his ability to read a defense or outstanding pocket presence.

psubills62
04-26-2010, 10:58 AM
I think Jaws has also praised Edwards in the past. Jaws is high on most every young QB, doesn't mean too much.

He looks like Losman, and then one confident statement means they are similar?

The major difference is 1st round vs. 7th round. Losman was supposed to be a franchise QB...how many people expect Brown to be that?

Forward_Lateral
04-26-2010, 11:00 AM
Even if he does turn out to be the next Losman, at least it was a late round pick, and not a 1st.

I agree, Losman had/has very good skills, athletically, it's the mental part that he could never grasp. Maybe Brown will have it, who knows?

Jaws was allover Losman's nuts too...

Losman was a first round pick. Typically, QB's that play in the spread, in small conferences, and are drafted in the 7th round have a lot of deficiencies. It was nice to hear that one of the most difficult parts of playing QB (reading defenses) isn't among them.

I see a lot of similarities physically between Losman and Brown. But I see more mental similarities between a QB like (god forbid) Ben <del>Rapistburger</del> Roethlisberger. From the games I have watched, overall he as a good read on defenses about 80% of the time, and when he dosent he isn't afraid to checkdown. My only complaint and the reason I think he wasn't drafted higher is even though he has a quick release. His reads aren't speedy for an NFL QB. There were plays where his third receiver was breaking and he didn't react for a solid 3-4 seconds. Thats a lifetime in the NFL.

If he is not afraid to throw the ball more than 10 yards he has a shot of beating out Edwards.

The major difference is 1st round vs. 7th round. Losman was supposed to be a franchise QB...how many people expect Brown to be that? I'd venture to guess that J.P. Losman was the reason people like Levi Brown are now 7th-rounders. Granted, there was a little bit of slide at that position, but there's an element of "we've been here before and we know how it turns out."

Really? A little bit of slide at the position? Most guys went a full round or more later than expected. Usually when you're talking QB's, they go earlier than expected.

I seriously doubt Losman had an impact on any GM's decisions in the draft. People can make all the comparisons they want, but each prospect is different. Most front offices realize that.

Really, the only significant similarity to Losman is his appearance, imo. Yeah, people say things like "Jaws approved of him," "he's got a big arm," etc. But there are a ton of QB's that those things apply to as well.

This is the last year draft picks will be making big money on their 1st contract. With a failure rate of 70%, I think many teams including the Bills decided to wait until next year to draft a QB in the first rnd or 2.

That may have been a tiny, tiny part of the process. But if that was the case, why wasn't Clausen drafted earlier in the 2nd round? Those guys get paid what, maybe 2 million per year at most? If a team thinks he can be their franchise QB, that's peanuts to pay. It's only the guys in the top 15 or so who get paid exorbitant amounts. That's not the reason why Lefevour fell from being a potential 2nd rounder to the 6th round. The entire QB class fell (except Bradford). It's not like once they got out of the high salary round (first), then the QB's went off the board fast.
