Over the course of the three-day extravaganza known as the 2010 NFL Draft, there were vague rumors that the Dallas Cowboys were open to moving certain members of the team, namely LB Bobby Carpenter and DE Marcus Spears. Carpenter hasn't ever really found his game at the NFL level after being selected 18th overall during the Bill Parcells regime, while Spears has been consistently productive in the lunchpail role of 3-4 DE since midway through his rookie season. But according to the Dallas Morning News, Spears' future in Big D is in question.
Although Spears hasn't lashed out about his 2010 salary -- which, at $1.226 million is less than backups Stephen Bowen and Jason Hatcher -- he knows that his situation is low on the priority list. If the Cowboys are legitimately still interested in trading Spears, it would makes sense for the Buffalo Bills take a look, given the fact that they are installing a 3-4 scheme this season, and can use help from players experienced in the intricacies of the formation.
This would be pretty sweet...a 3-4 vet who still isnt all that old, I'd take him in a heartbeat. I might even trade Marshawn for him straight up, though they have his (superior) clone in Marion Barber.
