View Full Version : McShay 2011 Mock Draft

1. Andrew Luck QB Stanford

Only a third-year sophomore this fall but coach Jim Harbaugh has Luck on the fast track mechanically and mentally. Luck has prototypical size (6-foot-4, 235 pounds) and is an underrated athlete. More importantly, he has a smooth over-the-top delivery, a strong arm and great touch as a passer. Better decisions while gaining more game experience could put Luck in position to become the top player taken in the draft -- either in 2011 or 2012.

Let the fun begin...

Let's not start this crap already...

Jake Locker has a much cooler name. I'm taking him.

I personally like Locker the most, but I'm interested to see how Luck progresses this coming season.

Mallett is also a good Qb prospect! let's hope we wont be picking at number 1

the name Andrew luck just sounds like a bust imo

Here's how I look at it. If we blow this year, then I want the #1 pick so we have our choice of the QB's. If we are good, then more than likely they won't be going after a QB b/c one of the ones we have must have done something right.

Teams with good defense don't pick number 1, so we will not have number 1 overall.

NOT THE DUDE...

If edwards plays better under a real offensive coordinator we will be picking 18-22, if edwards doesnt improve, we will have a top 7 pick

How many times during the past year has Ralph Wilson said that we need a little Luck?

So regardless of who we picked up or who we drafted... losing Butler, T.O. and Reed and not drafting a QB or LT drops this team from mediocre to cellar dweller? C'mon now.

Don't forget that some of the worst teams have been bad for a while, and they've been picking at the top and have already taken what they hope will be a franchise QB. The Rams have Bradford, the Lions have Stafford, the Bucs have Freeman, etc.

So it might not necessarily take the #1 overall pick to get the best QB next year. The Bills WILL NOT have the worst record in the league in 2010...meanwhile, I'll be rooting for one of the QBs we already have to step up.

Couldn't of said it better myself. I'm really hoping that good coaching will turn Brohm or Edwards into good starting qb's. My money would go to Brohm cause Edwards is just to scared out there.

How is Locker a cooler name than Luck? Something which the Buffalo Bills could desperately use.

Just say no to another Stanford Qb this century!

one could argue that Locker, Mallett and Luck will all have higher draft day grades than Jimmy Clausen did this year. (we need to see how the year plays out).
did buddy think about that during this year's draft? did he want to clog up the position with Clausen when there could be 3 better options in2011?

Luck has a ton of potential but he's still a little unpolished from what I saw last year. He's definitely more of a prototypical pocket passer than Locker. I like Locker's intangibles better, but he's got work to do himself with regards to his mechanics. I'm looking forward to getting another first-hand look at them during the Pac-10 season.

Andrew Luck? Did McShay pay ANY attention to who the Bills drafted this year?

Except for Easley, they basically picked a boatload of guys who have YEARS of production. It's pretty well known that in general, QB's with a lot of college experience turn out better in the pros. Why would they take a red-shirt sophomore QB?

I'm not sure if I want the Bills to have the #1 overall pick next year. There's a decent number of good QB's coming out, but none of them have distinguished themselves as either a franchise QB or the leader of the pack. I wouldn't want Buffalo having to make that decision as to who to give the money to.

The only positive if we did have the #1 overall pick is that a rookie salary cap SHOULD be in place by then. Which means we won't have to spend nearly as much on players.

That being said, I'm betting our defense will improve enough that we won't have the #1 pick.

When have we recently had a good defense? And what makes us think we will improve this year?

Out of all the QB's mentioned, I would take Luck in a heartbeat.

we'll have to trade up for the #1 overall spot, but that's what I am hoping we do

Based on prelims, with Luck, Mallet, and Locker, we have a good shot at a QB with size and arm strength next year. Add them to all the other QBs that might come out of know where. Beats this year where you had a half a QB, a short QB, a locker room cancer QB (rumored). Im liking the whole no QB this year if we get one next year idea.

We can get a QB in the first and a LT in the second. That way we will automatically be playoff bound by the critics.

maybe that why ralph keeps mentioning we need to be lucky.

i wish he knew we're drafting 1st next year to get andrew luck it would be worth 1-15

i still think we win 3-6 games ill call 5

I guess there is an argument that if you are going to be bad, might as well be really bad - as long as you have smart guys making the picks.

Ralph Wilson, Chan Gailey and Buddy Nix have all said at one point or another that we need some Luck... :idunno:

Only three LT's in the first?

Bowers falls to Round 2?

Im not a huge fan of this mock.

I feel this 2011 Mock is at least more realistic at this point;

We pick 2nd in it.

theres no way were worse then last year.

The defense was tolerable at times last year.

With the move to the 3-4 and a lack of 3-4 personal, this team could have the worst defense in the league. And with an offense that will be lucky to be top 25, it is a recipe for 3 wins.

Man... if the Bills can get a top 10 pick next year... we may be able to find our franchise QB with the guys that may be coming out.

Mallet
Luck
Blaine Gabbert (strongest arm)
