Fat, lazy, and unmotivated. Everything you'd want in your franchise quarterback. Exhibit A for a rookie salary cap. What a waste.

bold statement in the age of paris hilton types and executives who've left due to sinking their fortune 500 companies.

His next career move should be Dancing With The Stars because he sure as hell can't play football on the pro level.

With a reported 36 Mil already paid to him, he probably has zero incentive to try again.

This will be one of the last times we hear about JaMarcus Russell.

Ryan Leaf is still the bigger bust because he came from a good offense in Washington and he threw the ball so admirably in college. Russell gained steam late in his career with the bowl win and the strength of his arm.

And Russell isn't coming back to football. You think he will sign a vet minimum contract to compete? Yeah, right. He couldn't even stay motivated to compete when he's being paid gobs and gobs of cash.

He's gonna take the raiders money and just ride off into the sunset. He doesn't care about football.

i dunno man thats a tough call. jamarcus was the number 1 overall pick and its tough to find a single game in which he played decent. leaf at least had a few moments

Leaf was more memorable with his crybaby antics and he would have been the number 1 overall pick if it weren't for Manning.

JaMarcus and Tim Couch are pretty close. I don't know what's worse being the number 1 pick, having all the skills, being lazy and unmotivated, or being the number 1 pick and just flat out crappy like Couch.

JaMarcus wins number 2 though because he's the fastest number 1 overall pick to be released.

:roflmao:

That's priceless. So, let me get this straight. JaMarcus Russell comes in to camp, is the best QB out there, and so they cut him loose. So, if he's the best they have and they cut him...oy. I think some mock drafts are already being updated giving the Raiders the hands-down number one pick in the 2011 draft.

yeah i gotta disagree and i think most people will. He was the number 1 overall pick 3 years ago, and now he was just dropped and probably wont be touched by anyone. He doesnt have 1 memorable game. Off the field crap doesnt count really. Leaf had some decent moments at first while not being a number 1 overall. Jamarcus is the biggest waste of money and a pick ive ever seen in my lifetime thats for sure.

Tim Couch had a 3,000 yard season thrown in there, he led them to the playoffs, and played some good games. Russell doesn't have 300 yard game. You can't compare Russell to Couch, it is actually unfair to Couch. Leaf threw for 3,000 yards in his four year career, Russel has thrown for 1,200 yards in his three year career. Leaf was just a big a-hole and nobody liked him, Russell just doesn't seem to care about anyone or anything, especially himself.

Quinn was not picked that high & is still in the NFL. Much less a bust than Russell.

Did he? He lead that drive with 5 minutes to go to score on a 90+ yard touchdown with whitner hitting the wideout late in endzone, but edwards drove us down the field for a last second fieldgoal to make us go 3-0.

Did we play him again?

Damn, you're right, I just looked it up. My bad.

I think what I remember from that was this nobody bust of a QB ALMOST beating us. Might as well have...

Russell will be the poster child when the NFL owners negotiate with the players union on why rookie contracts are out of control. He will definitely hurt the players union since Russell is 39MM richer and sucked.

I simply meant that Quinn is another completely (so far) unsuccessful QB who got one of his very few career wins against us. That was my only comparison to Russell.

we should bring him in to play LT. Well, he is mobile, and he's a first-round draft pick... isn't he what I've been clamoring for all along? ;)

With Jason Campbell as their QB, I don't think they'll be that bad. And they'd better not, as they traded away their first round pick in 2011 to....guess who? New England. So if Oakland is the worst team next year, NE gets the top overall pick in the 2011 draft.

tampa bay will sign him

There is a much better chance of the Bills signing him than the Bucs. The Bucs drafted a QB last year.

I doubt any team will sign him this year. He was too lazy to be motivated to put in the work while he had a great contract, why would he now be willing to do so for a much lesser contract?

That alone should make a lot of NFL fans Raider fans for a year. Campbell is a decent quarterback. I was kinda expecting the Bills to go after him. Hopefully, he leads the Raiders to the playoffs, at least for 1 year!
