Buffalo Sabres General Manager Darcy Regier announced today the Sabres have signed defenseman Nick Crawford to a three-year entry level contract. The Sabres selected Crawford in the sixth round (164th overall) of the 2008 Entry Draft.
Crawford (6’1”, 183 lbs., shoots left, 2/23/1990) led all Ontario Hockey League defensemen in scoring this season, finishing with career highs in points (70), assists (59) and goals (11) in 68 games with the Barrie Colts and Saginaw Spirit. Crawford was named to the OHL’s First All-Star Team, and finished second in voting for the OHL’s Defenseman of the Year. In addition, Crawford was selected as the league’s Best Offensive Defenseman in the annual OHL Coaches Poll.
