    Stewart learned the hard way about preparation

    It's all about preparation these days on the South Side, where the Steelers are approaching minicamp as an integral part of the process rather than merely something to do during the second week of June.

    "It's a bonus for the young guys, but also for the vets," offensive coordinator Mike Mularkey said. "This is a time to pay attention to detail."

    That's a message the Steelers send every season but one that isn't always universally received.

    Those that don't get it risk getting benched, or getting their walking papers.

    Ask Kordell Stewart.

    "It wasn't Kordell that made us 0-2," at the outset of last season, Mularkey said. "He wasn't the main reason we were a slow starter. But everybody looks at that position, and for his part in the offense that was not running sufficiently, I thought it was due to a lack of time put into the game plan
