It could be that the Ravens want more than what the Bills are willing to send to Baltimore, and that the Ravens are hoping to get another team to come to the table in the hopes of driving up the price.

Good. We've got plenty of time at the moment, no use committing to something stupid that the market doesn't command.

Lombardi on Gaither...

5. The Bills have to be serious about their intention to acquire Baltimore left tackle (but soon to be right tackle) Jared Gaither. Gaither will not be with the Ravens in 2011, so they’re moving Michael Oher to left tackle. Then, if they don’t trade Gaither, they’ll have him for their right tackle spot, albeit for just one year. The move makes sense for the Ravens, but what doesn’t make sense is to give away Gaither at a reduced price. The Bills received a first rounder for Jason Peters, so they know the market for a starting left tackle. The other issue with finalizing the trade is the fact that the Bills, or whichever team Gaither is traded to, must first agree to a new contract, and I hear Gaither is asking for a huge deal, which turns off a few teams.

Who knows what is happening? Maybe they have the compensation worked out with the Ravens & are trying to negotiate a contract with Gaither.

leodis and a 2nd is crazy but reggie corner and a 3rd ok
-----------------------------------------------------
yeah, i guess trading a nickelback and a 3rd rd pick is ok for a 24 year old franchise LT.
the trade better be Jairus Byrd (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=5307) and a 2nd... minimum.
i would love to see OT Jared Gaither (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=4497), WR Demetrius Williams (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=3621) and LB Jason Phillips (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=5282) to the Bills for S Jairus Byrd (http://www.rotoworld.com/content/playerpages/player_main.aspx?sport=NFL&id=5307), 2011 2nd and 2012 3rd. the bills want him bad...right?

Look at this ****ing ******. he must have forgot to put his helmet on today.

Let's call the Saints about Jammal Brown and then the Ravens can tell us how much leverage they still have.

The " Go pound sand " school of negotiating.

i willing to bet we can get jammal brown for a 4th round pick... the ravens can then go pound the sand! hell yeah!

The work ethic thing makes me a little nervous about coughing up too much for this guy. He'd be a definite upgrade at LT, but I don't think he's really an elite one. Add that to the fact that he's rumored to be on the lazy side, and this isn't really a guy that we need to trade away next year's draft class for. I guess I'd do a 2nd round pick, but the talk of 2nd +another high pick is a pretty bad considering the work we'll still have to do next year

Start talking with New Orleans publicly about their tackle availability and see how the Ravens react from there.

A sore foot and a questionable work ethic with only 1 year remaining on his existing deal.

Sounds like the kind of player Buffalo shouldl avoid unless he comes cheap in both compensation and contract extension

Boom goes the dynamite! Exactly. Lots of irrational exhuberance over this guy due to our perceived dire need.

Why were we so willing to give up our own "Franchise" LT? When a guy is a real Franchise LT he will NOT be traded. Boselli, Ogden, Pace all attest to that. All spent all of their primes with the team that drafted them.
