Are you upset because I messed up the link or because I stole your thunder at posting an entire article and bolding random parts of it?

Yes, I wanted to break the story, it makes me feel important and you took that away from me!

I'm kidding

actually it's the NHL's fault the Sabres don't run their own website the NHL runs all 30 teams websites.

Back in 2007 the NHL took control of every teams website so that the licensing of teams for all commercial purposes and to stop teams from marketing apparel, merchandise and memorabilia. The Rangers actually sued the NHL because the Rangers wanted to run their own website.

The lawsuit said the NHL insisted last week that MSG transfer control over the Rangers independently produced website, including the "nyrangers.com" address so that the league could convert it into one of 30 "cookie-cutter" club websites at "nhl.com."

not sure how I feel about this. Grier was great in the playoffs, but he struggled through the regular season and has lost a step.

Can't have all-stars on all 4 lines. He plays a key role IMO.

he is a key to the puzzle. you can't pair him with soft players an expect him to be the difference. he needs to be an understated force. he can't be the focus.

if the sabres keep adding to this, great. if not, then this is status quo. let's see how it plays out until september.

Most likely a cheap price, one year deal, veteran guy who can lead by example... I think it's a great signing. The Sabres need more Mike Grier type players and less Drew Stafford type players.

I'll agree to that- my only problem with Grier is his age/health. Several people on here commented on his reduced speed last year, and I think someone else also mentioned that he seems to only push off of one leg, as if he has knee problems. If he can get past that, I'm fine with it- I just don't want him to become a liability because of something like that.

For those wondering - he got 1.4 million, which is raise compared to his 1.2 million last season.

well at least he's cheap and won't be messing up the cap.

He cost a little more than Skatezilla would've cost, maybe Darcy should re-think his move.

Good thing to keep him, that will probably be our BIG signing of the year.:z:

Connolly and Stafford need to be moved. Torres, Mair, Lydman can walk. Ennis can replace Connolly. Kassian should be ready to play next season. He is a beast. Him and Kaleta will give other teams nightmares. Gerbe could possibly make the team as well.

Ennis, Gerbe, Kassian, >>> Connolly, Stafford, Mair. Salary wise we are better off, effort wise we are better off. Skill wise, it's a toss up. But if Connolly and Staff are going to coast when it matters...then hit the road.

Sign Biron to replace Lalime.

Ellis/McCormick could be signed for depth. Probably only McCormick for a 2 way deal.

Negotiate with Tallinder, if he wants too much let him walk....it opens up cap space for some better options.

"Name" players we should look at, UFA D Willie Mitchell (depending on health), D Sergei Gonchar (probably too expensive and played very poorly vs Habs), D Volchenkov

Possible trades would be Sharp, Byfuglien, Iginla, Penner, Kaberle and that's just "name" players. Twilight Zone trade option would be for Briere. He's making 6.5 per for a fair amount of years yet. While he is a key to the Flyers playoff run, Philly is in cap trouble. We could save them $ by shipping Connolly and a 2nd or 3rd for Briere. Realistic? No.
