The NHL is in serious talks about taking down the mesh netting that is at both ends of the rink for next season.
The protective netting was only put up only because a 13 year old girl Brittanie Cecil died when a deflected puck struck her in the forehead at a game between the Columbus Blue Jackets and Calgary Flames back in 2002 and the NHL wanted to avoid a lawsuit.
Now the netting might be coming down, league owners will have a vote on this sometime this summer in the NHL off-season meetings that will be held in the league offices in Toronto.
