Former Hartford Whalers hockey team owner Howard Baldwin is trying to get fans behind his efforts to bring an NHL team back to Hartford, Conn.

Baldwin's latest venture is an outdoor skating rink at the Rentschler Field sports and entertainment stadium in East Hartford.

Jason Mirtle of Toronto Sun and also runs his own hockey blog thats actually pretty popular, said NHL is not even considering Hartford for a relocation. It's way down in the list.

yeah, more importantly, what is going on with phoenix to winnipeg. i heard that is very close to happening as arizona couldn't fund the current deal.

That would be a great first step.

Here's what needs to happen within 5 years for the good of the NHL.

Coyotes, Panthers, Thrashers all moved.

Winnipeg, Quebec, Hartford all re-instated.

If expansion made sense as well, then Seattle and Portland would make sense IMO.
