The Pittsburgh Steelers made headlines this offseason by getting rid of Santonio Holmes (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/413021/santonioholmes) and getting tough with Ben Roethlisberger (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/493043/benroethlisberger), but enough already. A little less Santonio and Big Ben, please, and a little more George Wilson (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/493743/georgewilson) -- and no offense taken if you haven't heard of him.

That can happen with NFL players who do the right thing, and George Wilson, safety for the Buffalo Bills (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/BUF/buffalobills), does -- which is why I would make him one of the first guys on my roster.

There is nothing, it seems, he can't or won't do. He is the wide receiver who agreed to move to safety to further his NFL career ... and did. He's the special-teams standout valued so highly he was named captain. He's the backup who stepped in to start for the injured Donte Whitner (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/423565/dontewhitner) last season and produced career numbers. He's the do-gooder wrapped up in so many off-the-field endeavors he was the NFL's 2009 winner of the Walter Payton Man of the Year award and recipient of the 2008 Presidential Volunteer Service Award. And he was the choice of singer Mary J. Blige for a leading man to star opposite her in a video.

In short, George Wilson is the textbook example of good things happening to good people.

Don't know where the Payton Award info came from, but it's a nice article anyway.

He's a textbook example of a player who really doesn't have the talent to be on an NFL roster, but he's good enough for Buffalo.

103 tackles, 2 sacks, and 4 picks sure seems like NFL talent to me.

He has more sacks and just as many int's as Whitner has in his entire career just last year.

He has enough talent. I don't see how he does not.

He is no Raion Hill.

Have to say that that is a great article, and it isn't that often you get that these days in the 'popular' media, where there's far too much idle speculation.

As to Wilson not having enough talent, I think that's a pretty pathetic statement. After making the transition, last year, to me, was the year that Wilson actually came in and understood the position he was being asked to play in. I'm pretty confident that there are a number of teams he could easily start on, and at the very least is a highly capable, and consequently valuable, backup.

Wilson's story is really nice, and it's actually somewhat amazing that a player agreeing to a position switch so late in their football career ended up being quite good. In my opinion, his play last year showed that he deserves to be the starting strong safety, even though Whitner came on strong before he was hurt.

I just wish I could get that image of Randy Moss easily beating him deep a couple years ago out of my head.

Err, except Wilson's play last season was among the best in the league at his position.

So does anyone think he got a ZJ from MJB?
