Could Whitner be converted to an OLB in the 3-4, or is he too small? His coverage would be adequate, and one of his strengths, supposedly, is run support. Could it be done, or would it be a waste of time?

Re: Question about OLB in the 3-4, and Whitner
I think people are looking wayyyy too far into an OLB's coverage responsibilities, yeah it's part of what they'll be asked to do, but their coverage assignments are usually either covering the flat or dropping back into a short zone. A DB covering from the LB spot is closer to overkill than adequate, then leaving massive holes in that spot for everything except minor coverage.Last edited by JCBills; 06-09-2010, 04:03 PM.
