Trivia Time: Name me the first Bills TRUE rookie running back to ever rush for 1,000 yards in a season. (Note- I will not accept Cookie Gilchrist as an answer. He was a 5-year CFL vet before joining Bills in 1962). First person to get it right receives a fantastic imaginary prize. Try not to cheat.

OJ didn't do it as a rookie, although he had 1000 all purpose yards

my next guess is Thurman Thomas

The sad thing is, I was just reading into rookie 1000 yrd rushers about 3 days ago. Actually read somethinig saying the Bills had the most, with 6. And I cannot remember who came after Cookie and before Joe.

I'm positive it was Miller, out of Oklahoma State... he flamed out quickly and then Cribbs came in and dominated.

Terry Miller in 1978?

That's the answer.. yes, 1,060 in 1978.
Of course, he did very little after that.. Fifth overall pick of the draft too, ran for 1,000 right after OJ got dealt to SF.

-The team that has had the most rookie 1,000 yard rushers all time is the Buffalo Bills (http://iqfb.com/nfl/buffalo-bills/) with six. The players accomplishing this feat for the Bills are Cookie Gilchrist (1,096 yards – 1962), Terry Miller (1,060 yards – 1978), Joe Cribbs (1,185 yards – 1980), Greg Bell (1,100 yards – 1984), Willis McGahee (1,128 yards – 2004), and Marshawn Lynch (1,115 yards – 2007)
That was the article I was reading the other day.

yeah, I didn't include Gilchrist.. I did say tho in the original post not counting Gilchrist, because tho he was techincally an AFL rookie, he had spent the previous five years in the CFL.

BTW, Gilchrist is the first person in AFL history to run for 1,000 yards. He also holds the AFL record for most rushing yards in a game, 243
