Question about the FB position/Gailey's stance

When looking through the depth chart seeing who was still on the team/et cetera, I realized that Gailey's philosophy is a running style/play action offense.

With this in mind, I do know he has his "pistol" offense, but he and Nix like to run the ball. Having the Cerberus attack at running back for now, where would a fullback fit in to the scheme?

McIntyre seemed to be the best of both worlds when we cut Darian free, but can he still drop a defender in the new running system under Gailey? Or, with the revamp of the entire team and "bring in your guy" mentality, does Rodney Ferguson fill the void?

Is FB a necessity in this offense?

I'm looking for thoughts in general...

Re: Question about the FB position/Gailey's stance

My guess would be that Gailey is keeping a totally open mind on offensive schemes and personnel, and will attempt to make the very best of what he has.

He is very early in the evaluation process and probably wants to take a closer look at everything and everybody that has usuable skills.
Should have known, way back in 1960 when we drafted Richie Lucas Number 1, that this would be a long, hard ride. But who could have known it would be THIS bad?

It could just be me, but it seems that McIntyre is better at running with the ball than he is as a blocker.

I must admit that at times I miss the old pro set with the FB, HB option in the backfield (ala Braxton - Simpson).....

        Got to love the media...

When a high-profile player shows up for voluntary workouts after a lengthy absence, as Buffalo Bills running back Marshawn Lynch did this week, there's an assumption he'll be with the team for good.

        That's not necessarily the case.

Lynch finally joined his teammates on the practice field Tuesday and spoke with reporters.

By Thursday's workout, he was gone again.

Bills RB Marshawn Lynch missed Buffalo's OTA Thursday to fly to Dallas to be a groomsman in wedding of Seahawks RB Justin Forsett.

The last time the Bills made the playoffs was 1999.

If your offense is centered around the run, you'd better have a fullback.

Wish someone would ask Gailey about the wildcat. We seem to have quite a stable to run one

i'm luke warm about a FB only because the bills have tried this a bunch and it never works. it just clogs up the backfield. if thye had a more dominant line, then i'd say yeah, get a FB to blast through the hole and hit second level defenders.

if gailey knkows how to utilize a FB better than the other regimes, go for it...if not, give spiller and jackson space to do what they do. they make people miss. They aren't a follow the blocker to day light runners. not a lot of runners are these days.
