Washington Redskins wide receiver Justin Skaggs was scheduled to undergo knee surgery yesterday, team officials said.
Skaggs was injured during an NFL Europe game but returned to the United States to have the surgery performed. Redskins Coach Steve Spurrier said that Skaggs had possible ligament damage, but other club officials, after speaking to Skaggs's doctors in Birmingham, said that the injury might not be as severe as initially feared and might be just cartilage damage. Redskins officials said they did not know how long Skaggs will be sidelined....
