I would not mind that. He is probably better than all 4 guys on the roster right now.

All for it, we have 3 guys who have had the chance and note one has taken over.

Rumor, not at all.

Speculation, purely.

That's some Schmuck who thinks his opinion matters.

why the hell didnt we grab Bulger

Depends on cost, any more than a conditional 6th and I won't do it.

jdbillsfan

His value has to be pretty low right now after the Ravens signed Bulger.

Not many teams trade for QB's who are 3rd on the depth chart.

Can we give them less than a 7th? The dude is 3rd string or worse on that team, regardless of the hope we might have for him.

Every available QB is rumored to go to Buffalo.

But it's on the internet! Didn't Pat Moran report that he read this?

Why don't we just wait until they cut him?

And seriously, what makes him better than the QB's on our roster again?

http://www.nfl.com/players/troysmith/profile?id=SMI764846

I guess I'm not seeing it. For a guy who craps on Brohm every chance he gets, claiming Smith is better than every QB we currently have is slightly contradictory.

Yeah, he's definitely not better than Trent.

Hmmm... you think this dude may have sought a pseudonym, assuming this is his real name. If not, it was a poor choice for a "rumors" guy.

I don't mind Smith, but I would still rather see Brohm win the job.

I'd take Troy Smith over Bulger or our QBa any day.

Plus, his mobility would fit Gailey's offense perfectly.

OMG we're actually talking about this?

It's not even speculation. It's purely manufactured BS.

We'll sign Favre and Chris Johnson before we get Troy Smith.

IF we were interested in Smith y are sum of u happy he sucks just as bad as the crap on this team..the day the bills sign a real QB will be amazing..Jim Kelly in his old age is still prolly better then the QBz the bills currently have..

If they acquire Troy Smith, then 2 QB's will have to go before the season begins. I just can't see that happening.

Brown could easily be PS'd. He'd probably be better off there, because I cant see any way he should ever see the field this season (or next).

I think Brown is the #3, just not active on game days.

Why even have him in that role though is my question? He learns the same amount by being on the PS as he would as an inactive player. He can still be on the sidelines during games and be in the QB huddles, I believe.

Why not have three vets as our top three QB's?

mightysimi

Baltimore thought so much of Smith that they drafted a QB in round one the next year, and then brought a veteran in to take his job this year. He's never really played at all but all of a sudden he's better than anything we got? He has 48 career attempts. How he would go from being pushed down the depth chart to Bills starter is beyond me.

I agree with the notion that this is manufactured bull****...

I also don't beleive he is better then anyone we have on our roster.

We're going into this year with what we have and there will be no attempt to bring in anyone else

Because this is the first QB this regime selected, and I don't know if they would risk him by placing him on the practice squad for another team to take. I think one of the three Edwards/Fitz/Brohm will be cut and Brown is #3. Just a hunch.

Yardrat I agree but I would rather have TROY then Fitz to be honest.
But I do think that Trent or Brian will be the QB I think it depends who works harder after this break going into Training camp.....

justasportsfan

Unless Troy has 25" hand size, we don't want him.

Dr. Lecter
06-28-2010, 08:45 AM
I will take back the part about being better than the guys on the roster.

At this point he has shown more than Brown and Brohm in actual NFL games. Fitz has shown he is no more than a back-up so he could replace him. Trent has shown more than Smith, so he would probably be at the top of the pecking order.

But for a 6th or a 7th, I would take him.

Brian Brohm gets beat out by a 7th rounder, is PSd and now is our savior in many peoples opinion...

BUT

Troy Smith lost his chance to start due to illness and Flacco tore it up, has also barely played like Brohm however is total crap...

Someone explain to me the logic here.

I'm sure they didn't draft Flacco because Smith had an illness. He may have lost the chance to play that one year but let's be honest, you don't draft a qb in the first round to back up your 5th round pick.

I think the scenario involving Brohm is different because Rodgers was already there. However, I don't think Brohm is the saviour.

Exactly. Brohm got beat out by something called Matt Flynn and now people think he is some kind of savior. Unreal.

I dont know why they wouldn't though. Brown is nothing special, and wasn't that good at Troy in big games against real competition. I had him as undrafted on my big board and the pick honestly surprised me given what other QB's were available.

Trent >/= Troy > Fitz > Brown > Brohm

Bring him in! The lil' ****er was stout at OSU and showed some promise at the next level, which trumps most of the guys we have.

Who believes he's a savior? All I've ever seen is people hoping that he beats out Trent and Fitz...why would anybody not want that??? We all know what Fitz and Trent are...no good. Now, if Trent wins the job and proves he can get over his shortcomings of the past couple of years, I'm all for it. However, if Brohm beats him out...I'd be just as happy. The only thing that matters is that SOMEBODY grabs the job and does something with it.

is Parrish or Troy Smith taller? I'm curious. i thought Troy smith's knock was that he was tiny for the NFL.

He's 5-11 in height.

Which is smaller than the ideal QB but Brees is only 6 ft. I see him as a running QB and running QB's never work.

Troy Smith= FA Charlie Whitehurst.

Another nobody QB who was good in college and is buried on a depth chart making people here in Buffalo think if we pick him up he'll turn into something great.
