'Madden 11' ratings revealed for AFC East (http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/14860/madden-11-ratings-revealed-for-afc-east)

By Tim Graham

EA Sports has given ESPN.com exclusive rights to reveal complete "Madden NFL 11" player ratings, from agility to trucking to run blocking to pursuit. The numbers started rolling out Monday, two teams at a time.

Lucky for us, the AFC East was first up. That allows us to see how all of the scores within the division compare.

Team scores came out a few weeks ago (http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/14164/jets-pull-ahead-of-pats-in-madden-ratings), but individual scores are the ones the players will be bragging about and talking trash over.

The game will be released in August, but for those who can't wait to see what the game will look like -- and to catch a glimpse at some notable players such as Karlos Dansby (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5558) and Santonio Holmes (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9611) in their new uniforms -- EA Sports has provided a photo gallery of AFC East images to sort through (http://espn.go.com/espn/thelife/vggallery?page=/photo/2010/0628/vg_afceast_18_110.jpg).

Here are some highlights from the division.

Buffalo Bills (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=buf)

http://a.espncdn.com/photo/2010/0629/nfl_spillermadden_300.jpgEA Sports C.J. Spiller's on-field speed will also be apparent in "Madden NFL 11."

Top five overall scores (http://espn.go.com/videogames/madden11?teamId=3): Punter Brian Moorman (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=2797) (90), S Jairus Byrd (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=12613) (87), ILB Paul Posluszny (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10478) (86), WR Lee Evans (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5538) (84), RB Fred Jackson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10195) (83), CB Terrence McGee (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=4569) (83), S Donte Whitner (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9594) (83).

Quick take: No wonder Marshawn Lynch (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10456) wants to play the game as the Jets when it comes out (http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/14690/lynch-excited-to-see-how-good-jets-will-be). The Bills' top player is their punter, and they have a dearth of skill players in the 80s. But rookie running back C.J. Spiller (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=13203) is joystick-friendly with 95 speed, 97 acceleration and 95 agility.

Quarterback analysis: Trent Edwards (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=10536) and Ryan Fitzpatrick (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8664) each scored a 70, while Brian Brohm (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=11290) is a lowly 65, just two points higher than seventh-round draft pick Levi Brown (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=13319). Edwards has a 62 in the swagger category, whereas Brohm and Brown are 70s.

Surprise score: Unproven left tackle Demetrius Bell (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=11453) scored a 74, the same number as veteran center Geoff Hangartner (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8583) and one point higher than veteran tackle Cornell Green (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=2471).

No respect: As ESPN analyst Tedy Bruschi (http://espn.go.com/blog/afceast/post/_/id/14178/players-acutely-aware-of-madden-scores) noted recently on "NFL Live," a Madden awareness rating of 65 or lower was the source of ridicule in the Patriots' locker room. Bills tackle Jamon Meredith (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=12696) received a miniscule 35.

Surprised Bell got such a high rating, he was one of the worst tackles in the game last year, if not the worst, when it first came out.

Wow...The loss of T.O. will hurt much more on Madden than in real life!

It will be an uphill battle for sure, but that is part of the fun! There are a few of these ratings that are just plain horrible, however....

The ratings for Freddy are a little low... he gets a 72 for Elusiveness?? Maybe they could have interviewed a few of the guys that tried to tackle him last year... His Injury rating is lower than Lynch although FJ didn't miss time hurt, while ML did. Swagger?? First of all what the **** is that doing in this game? Second, just because Freddy doesn't have a grill, and is mild mannered, I am pretty sure he isn't some sad-sack...he's got swagger, just not unfounded arrogance.

How about George Wilson?? Who did he piss off? Whoever it was, he must have done it with Drayton Florence... that is a crime.

Also not a fan of the dissing Meredith took...to rate his Awareness lower than Bell? Chambers?

Nic Harris has a higher rating than Maybin...including a much higher rating in Swagger?

Good Stuff.

Hopefully our squad can return to relevance this year, and get a little respect.

We are talking about computer geeks who make up the ratings...take them for what they're worth. People get too worked up over this stuff.

Bell used to be the lowest rated player in the history of Madden, in the old ratings system where the bottom was 50. Strange how someone who outplayed him gets less than half the rating. What a joke. Bills players always get screwed. The year Greer broke out, he had the largest increase in OVR rating in the history of Madden.

True. Way too high.

Funny. He should be 90+ if we were still in a 4-3, so I guess a little drop in rating due to a new system until he shows he can make the transition is understandable.

He's really more of an 81. Jusssst a bit better than mediocre.

Not really, when you shell out $60, you want it to be an accurate, quality product you're receiving.

Haha, they got Edwards' swagger right at least.

Looking at the ratings, they seem fair.
Donte is an average player at best,
Evens is a one trick pony and his production has been average at best for a starting wr
Our Qbs kinda suck,
Freddie is shifty but does not have elite speed,
Poz at 86 is fair, he is good but not great or elite,
Morman is a great punter maybe could be higher than 90,
and if Byrd's second season is anything like his first he will for sure be way higher next time 97-99!
I think Madden needs more than one great season to give you an elite rating...

Upon reading the entire article... someone needs to set the rating guy's head down, put up the "ready" symbol, and kick him in the side of the head. It's a video game, but still if 1 fan gets to decide who is ranked what, he should know what he's doing.
