Fred Jackson on ESPN 1st take on Gailey, QB, RB, more

Fred Jackson just did a nice interview on ESPN's 1st Take.

Here are some of the highlights of what he said:

    On Gailey:
Biggest difference vs. Jauron is how hands-on he is. He gets into the huddle and listens to the call, then comes back to the huddle after the play and explains what you could have done better.

    On QB spot:
Says he's played with all 3 and all 3 are capable and the best man will win job. It will be exciting to see these guys battle and anyone on the team is willing to go to battle with any of the 3 QBs. Doesn't sense a favorite and says Gailey has kept things close to the vest and all have been getting same amount of reps at practice. They have all done a "phenomenal" job considering the situation they are in.

    On RB Competition:
Will be heated and will make each other better. Just like him vs. Lynch made each other better. We're all capable of making plays. We'll all bring our A-game when we get out there.

    Advice to rookies:
Stay hungry. You won't get as many reps as you did in college. Spiller can make a big play at any time. I tell him to always try and make a big play whenever he touches the ball.

    On playing in AFC East:
Not frustrating at all (playing against all that talent). You want to play against and compete against the best. The better talent you play, the more you want to beat those guys. We have a lot to prove and we want to go out and win the AFC East.

Talked about playing at D-III and making it to NFL. "A lot of hard work."

If there was a movie about you, who would play you?
Says he has a twin that would love to play him in a movie. Says his bro can do anything he can. But his wife swears Samuel L. Jackson is his real father because they look so much alike.

man, the more stuff that is said subtlely about jauron is so damn infuriating.

"he watches the play and then tells us what to do better." That's the ground breaking difference between gailey and jauron? that sounds like coaching 101. you see something, you tell the player how to be more successful.

I would love for a reporter to do an interview protecting all the players with "unnamed player" tags and let them say what they really want to say and cite specific cases where they were like, "this guy has no idea what he's doing. i hate playing here and i am going to get killed going to bat for this guy."

Which brings me to my second point, the cliche that all commentators said during our weekly beatings was, "but he's a player's coach and people play hard for this guy."

I don't think that's the case. i think people found him to be a great human being and a nice guy, so they didn't purposefully dog it (excluding TO), but they knew he was awful and didn't have the heart to complain about it because at the very least he went easy on them.

It would have been world's different to have a guy like mangini run you into the ground, tell you he's awesome, and then put stinkers out every week.

Jauron usually told his players what they could have done better .............after reviewing the tape when they already lost the game .

Besides, how can he be in the huddle when he's clueless offensively and has to depend entirely on his OC's?

Freddy looks more like Lawerence Fishburn than Sam Jackson.

Freddie's probably a better actor, too.

I don't know who Freddy looks like, nor do I particularly care. What I do know is that he has a great attitude. A lot of people in his position would have pissed and moaned about the team taking a RB. Not Freddy. He welcomes the competition and sees that Spiller makes them better. The Bills could use a lot more guys like Freddy on the team.
