I was just looking at the player tracker on Sabres.com (http://sabres.nhl.com/club/news.htm?id=533230) , and this is next year's FA list:

chris butler D 23 Signed 2-year entry level contract APRIL 13, 2008
tim connolly C 29 Signed 2-YEAR EXTENSION MARCH 4, 2009
steve montador D 30 Signed as an unrestricted free agent July 1, 2009
craig rivet D 35 Acquired from San Jose Sharks JULY 4, 2008
ANDREJ SEKERA D 24 Signed 2-YEAR EXTENSION JULY 20, 2009
drew stafford RW 24 Signed 2-YEAR EXTENSION SEPTEMBER 13, 2009

4 of them are defensemen, and 2 of them are north of 30.

We are looking at the possibility of turning over 5 of our 6 top defensemen in a 2 year period. Who do we have coming up in Portland that might be able to fill in? Anyone know?

Well I imagine Butler and Sekera will easily be retained.

I know Grangani(sp) and Brennen are very close.

Pearson (a former 1st) is also in the mix but appearing to be a possible bust.

Our first round pick this year could be out there as well.

Brennan looks like a guy with a definate future. I wild card that that alot of people may not be aware of is Brayden McNabb, he is big and mobile and actually paired with Myers in the World Championships a few years ago, he was a shrewd pick by Regier.

Gragnani is a guy I am not sure I can believe in, good talent, but seems like the tweener type that might just never be quite good enough.

Pysyk (??spelling) is very solid. He is sort of a Mike Ramsey type, solid, stay at home. He has good moility.

Alex Biega could turn out to be a surprise, he is a fireplug sort of guy, good offensive skills, he could force his way in.

Ya got Weber, who will be solid, Butler and Sekera are in spots where defensemen jhave traditionally struggled, i am betting you see big improvement this year, especially in Sekera.
