Looks like Bruce restructured after all.

The Washington Redskins gained much-needed salary cap room, and the services of a future Hall of Fame defensive end for at least one more season beyond 2002, by reaching an agreement with Bruce Smith on a dramatically restructured contract.......

Did Buffalo ever make an overture to Bruce? It's not exactly fair to blame Bruce for not coming back to Buffalo if the Bills brass doesn't want him.

Good point Tiger J. It's all well and good to slam Bruce, but if we didn't make a move for him, why dis Bruce?

He will be a man on a mission this seaon, needing just 12 sacks to catch Reggie Whites mark of 198 sacks.

BTW, this is the same restructuring HE proposed to Bills brass before they released him a while back.

I hate to say it but I think it will take Bruce 2 years to get those 12 sacks. Watching him last year I noticed he had trouble with the speed of the game. I really don't thnk he would be all that effective against the runners the Bills will face this year, he also doesn't handle the double teams quite like he used too. I'd much rather watch the young guys develope than to watch bruce play on just 3rd and long.

I hope the Skins and Spurier flop majorly this year, but I would really like Stephen Davis to come to the Bills I'm not too impressed with any of the Bills RB's I like them don't get me wrong I just don't think any of them are starter material

Bruce was on the best damn sports show last night. And Mike Irving was saying that bruce wasn't half the player that reggie white is. and that he just isnt all that good and wasn't when he played for the bills. then he brought up the superbowls. while demarco farr did nothing but praise Bruce.

Bruce Smith was one of my favorite players when he was in Buffalo- the guy was almost inhuman. But he's passed his prime. I live in the DC area so I am unfortunately bombarded with Redskins coverage, and Bruce's name rarely comes up. He is always passed over for Stephen Davis, Darryl Green, that redneck from Florida et al. I think it's a shame because none of these guys have had half the impact on football that Bruce has...

Yes, he's probably crazy to stay in Washington because he's idolized in Buffalo, and I would have loved to see him retire in red and blue, but in reality he probably wouldn't help the team that much and would suck salary cap $.
