Interesting that Trent's stats, whether in terms of NFL seasons, or a particular year is very much on par with the new hotshot Sanchez/Henne.

The killer to most of us watching him since he came to the Bills is this:

We didn't expect much when he was drafted, and he surprised us in his rookie year
We kind of expected him to improve th next season and he kind of surprised us with the 5-1 starts and how good he looked in those games. Then the hit he got from Wilson ...
We expected him at least to get back to the pre-hit form last year and he sank to his rookie formSo the big concern we have is whether he has already peaked in his career or the upheaval of the environment did him in.

Personnally I always believed that true diamond shines no matter what, but last year I did not see a single spark from him at all.

I'm stealing a comment from below the article. He hit the nail on the head..... he does leave Losman out, but he did say "their 1st picks..."

I know why the Bills (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/teams/page/BUF) don't have a quarterback - THEY HAVEN'T DRAFTED ONE!

Since Jim Kelly retired, these are the first picks used by the Buffalo Bills in the NFL draft:
RB Antowain Smith
LB Sam Cowart
CB Antoine Winfield (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/133453)
DE Erik Flowers
CB Nate Clements (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/235204)
T Mike Williams (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1115064)
RB Willis McGahee (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/396170)
WR Lee Evans (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/492932)
WR Roscoe Parrish (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/418311)
SS Donte Whitner (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/423565)
RB Marshawn Lynch (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/504639)
CB Leodis McKelvin (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/519682)
DE/OLB Aaron Maybin (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1117617)
RB C.J. Spiller (http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/players/playerpage/1127382)

How many successful 1st round QB's did the Bills pass on in order to draft any of those players?

Drew Brees... Jeff Geor-er-Jay Cutler, and Rogers... other then that... not a one... oh... yeah. Tom Brady.

two of those 4 are too early in their career to say for certain if they'll be good or not.

I'd add Joe Flacco to that list.

And if you're going guys later in the draft there's Jake Plummer, Matt Schaub, Matt Hasselbeck and I'd even give a nod to Kyle Orton, while not flashy is a game manager.

It's really sad that Prisco apparently did zero homework before writing his column.

If only in 2005 we drafted Charlie Frye instead of Roscoe Parrish, we'd be contenders!

What a dumb article. Talk about writing an article completing based on opinion and not having one thought provoking idea.

Kyle Orton is much worse than Edwards.

With our past coaching staff, I honestly believe it wouldn't have mattered WHO we had... the result would have been the same. (ie if we had picked up Brady)

We (the fans) would just be hating/making fun of different successful players from other teams.

Kyle Orton is much worse than Jay Cutler, no matter what happened last year. Also, Brandon Marshall is much better than whoever they are replacing him with. WTF are they doing up there in Denver?

I just looked at the top 3 rounds of every draft since 2001 and there is only one legit franchise QB the Bills missed out on: Joe Flacco in 2008. Please don't insult yourself by describing QB's like Kyle Orton, Jay Cutler, Matt Leinert or Brady Quinn as "franchise".

There may have been other good QBs drafted late, like Tom Brady, but by the 4th round every other NFL teamed passed them several times too.

and Rogers...

Not sure how the Bills had a shot at Rodgers when they never had a 1st Round pick in 2005?

This is 100% correct. Even the greatest QB needs solid coaching. A meathead like Dick(less) Jauron would have turned Peyton Manning into a total bust.

Of course, who could forget that trades were illegal in 2005?

Right. We all know that if you want to trade a pick the other team HAS TO SAY YES! It's in the NFL bylaws.

Yes.. The year before(2004) they bills gave up a 1st Round pick to trade back into the 1st Round to take Losman.. The should have done the same thing again in 2005 to get Rodgers..
