    Troup signing shouldnt take long

DT Brian Price was signed yesterday:

Tampa Bay Buccaneers: The official source of the latest Bucs headlines, news, videos, photos, tickets, rosters, stats, schedule, and gameday information.

He was drafted at 35, Troup was drafted at 41.

That gives us the parameters to get the deal done.

    Come on Bills!

Yea but keep in mind the rumors is that Bucs over paid to get Price done somewhat. I havent seen the final numbers so I can't confirm that but they went with a deal that is likely over what his slotted money would be to enduce him to sign early. We would have to follow suit in order to get Troup to sign now. A better sign will be when picks 37, and 38 sign.

He'll be signed by camp. And of the 2 (he and Spiller), it's more critical for him to be there day 1. Although Spiller can't miss more than a couple days.

          Parameters for Troup?

          By Chris Brown - Posted July 21, 2010 – 6:22 am
Contract parameters could be getting clearer between the Bills and second-round pick Torell Troup.
With the Tampa Bay Buccaneers signing their second-round pick, DT Brian Price, to a four-year deal late last night, it not only helps in terms of setting some ballpark figures, but he also plays the same position as Troup.
Though he’ll be playing in a 4-3 Price is expected to see most of his playing time at the nose tackle spot in the Bucs ‘D’ with top pick Gerald McCoy expected to man the playmaking three-technique spot (undertackle).
In addition, Price (35th overall) was taken just six draft slots ahead of Troup (41st overall). The only other DTs that came off the board in Troup’s area of the draft came after him with the Raiders taking Lamarr Houston 44th overall and the Giants taking Linval Joseph 46th overall.
We’ll see if the Price contract helps to grease the wheels.

Price's deal is 4 year 5.32, with 3.55 guaranteed and a 2.5 million dollar signing bonus.

That would of been the most guaranteed money of any 2nd round pick last season, so like I said it appears that Tampa went above and beyond to get Price in early which sucks because it artificially inflates the market for Troup now.

That will help but hes the next highest DT drafted so it should give us the parameters.

He was the 3rd pick of the 2nd round. I wouldn't say that getting more money than any 2nd rounder last year is a huge deal.

I think Troup would be worth a solid five year contract. I expect him to eventually anchor our defense.

I think this deal is close. He'll be in on time, but look for a four year deal. Not many second rounders are going to be getting five year deals. Spiller will probably get five but I don't expect he will be in on time

This is why I hate having to negotiate contracts for rookies. A set dollar amount should be set depending on where you are drafting. If you want to negotiate, negotiate bonus and years, but the base salary should be standard according to where you were picked. Veterans who have proved they belong in the NFL are the ones who should be getting paid, not players like Jamarcus Russel.

Troup will be in before camp, Spiller will miss more than a week IMO.

I agree, but it sets the entire scale off, not to mention his signing bonus was high for the pick as well.
