Will the pass rush be reliably effective

One good example of what’s possible can be found in the switch to the 3-4 by the Green Bay Packers in 2009 under defensive coordinator Dom Capers, a coach under whom Edwards has worked in the past.

Last season the Packers were able to increase their sack total by 10 to go from a ranking of 25th to 11th in the league. Their opponents’ completion percentage, which was already very low, also improved dropping to 54.4 percent to rank second in the NFL in 2009. And their interceptions and pass breakups went up by eight and 10 respectively, with the Packers leading the league in interceptions with 30 last year.

Most important is the fact that they did it without one of their best pass rushers for half the season as Aaron Kampman played in just nine games last year logging just 3.5 of the team’s 37 sacks.

Unless Maybin can bring it, I think they will have to blitz to have any pass rush at all.

I see us having less sacks than last year, if thats possible. You still have Kelsay on the roster wasting space. Maybin? who the **** knows?

The Bills didn't have a pass rush to speak of. I'm willing to give the 3-4 scheme a good chance of solving that.

Most of the pressure will come form the OLB position and up the middle ILB/S blitz, so we'll see how it works out.

Good read....Mabin is the big x factor. He was to light for 4 -3 maybe just right for 3-4....will Kyle and Troup hold up...Will mitchel and pos wear down if they dont? Will the rookie on the other side be a force...will the db's play man effectively enough to give mabin and co enough time to sack? We had Bruce Smith in 3-4 at DE who will play up to that level for us? We will need a DE and A QB next year....to bad we only have one #1 pick.

                Nobody. That's asking a lot.
