All: The new Billszone site with the updated software is scheduled to be turned on Tuesday, May 21, 2024. The company that built it, Dynascale, estimates a FOUR HOUR shut down, from 8pm Pacific, (5pm Eastern) while they get it up and running. Nobody will be able to post in any forum until they are done. Afterwards, you may need to do a web search for the site, as old links will not work, because the site is getting a new IP address. Please be patient. If there are bugs, we will tackle them one at a time. Remember the goal is to be up and running with no glitches by camp. Doing this now assures us of that, because it gives us all summer to get our ducks in a row. Thank you!

Emmitt Smith shouldn't get credit for running behind what might have been the greatest OL ever.
1. Jim Brown
2. Walter Payton
3. Gale Sayers
4. OJ Simpson
5. Barry Sanders
6. Marion Motley
7. Thurman Thomas
8. Joe Perry
9. Earl Campbell
10. Jim Thorpe
The amazing thing is that four of the five best ever rarely played on a winning team - makes them even better than stats show.

Re: Forked Thread: Its the offseason...Top Ten RB's of all-time
Emmitt Smith is a joke in my opinion, everyone else made him better and he held on and gravy rained stats for 4 or 5 years... credit due, he did it but as far as a dynamic athletic force he wasn't even top 50.
Re: Forked Thread: Its the offseason...Top Ten RB's of all-time
Jim Brown's offensive line, in its time, was the best in the league - better in my opinion than the Packers' line. Brown was a great runner, maybe the best. But, if people are going to discount Emmit Smith's accomplishments due to the great line that he played behind, they should do the same for Brown.

Brown was also bigger than most of the defenses trying to tackle him. He was big man for his time. Plowing over defenders comes easier when they are all out weighed. That being said his place is solidified in history no matter what. It's hard to remove him from the 1 spot though I have tried in my mind many times.
The Polian Curse
"They're a very special group of men. Cherish them, you will not see their like again."
February 4, 1993 Bill Polian at his closing press conferance after being dismissed as GM of the Buffalo Bills by Ralph Wilson.
Re: Forked Thread: Its the offseason...Top Ten RB's of all-time
So, off the top of my head and I might switch it several times if I keep staring at it
1. Jim Brown
2. Walter Payton
3. Gayle Sayers
4. Barry Sanders
5. Emmit Smith
6. Earl Campbell
7. OJ Simpson
8. Marshall Faulk
9. Eric Dickerson
10. Curtis Martin
I don't think anyone else has mentioned Martin. He is however #4 on the all time yardage list with 14,101 yards.
I also have Earl Campbell pretty high. The reason being he was my absolute favorite RB to watch, he is the poster boy for sacrificing your body for the game and I will never forget him and his passion.
Another high rating many might say is Gayle Sayers, What might have been if the surgeons of today could have worked on that knee. Also theguy made the HAll Of Fame after playing only 5 years. Has anyone else even come close to that ?
Also some love for some older guys Red Grange who pretty much legitimized pro football and Hugh McElhenny if you get a chance to watch some old highlights was one elusive s.o.b. and was one of the first NFL players to only play offense only and was critisized by many as a specialist. LOL
