Leaning on towards what?

I believe it's NE39's signature that reads "Give me ambiguity...or give me something else." Quite appropriate here.

Aaron Schobel says he's leaning more toward coming back then he was a month ago. Hear from the Bills Veteran on Eyewitness News at 6pm.

If he's going to pull this again next year, I'd rather move on and use the snaps to develop the younguns. I loved Aaron and think he should be on the bills wall of fame but this Brett Farve move has gotten old.

As a 3-4 OLB, wouldn't we rather have quicker guys?

Um I hope he comes back, the guy is a natural athlete and could be really good in the 34. It might rejuvenate him and make him want to play out his contract.

Besides him coming back or not, playing outside Lb in the 34 is also a big question... I think he can do it, he has dropped back into zones before, man is another story

Time to start shopping him and see if the Texans or Cowboys want him....someone that plays closer to his house.

I wouldn't be shocked if he decides he wants to return when training camp is almost over - since he hates training camp.

For me, it boils down to this: We're a better team with him than without him. I hope he comes back.

F him. Be a team player. The NFL is a business. And a team needs to know what players want to play and what players don't so they can plan (i.e. draft, free agency) accordingly. It's a selfish move that only Brett Farve can get away with.

Exactly...It would be a possible win-win for all sides. We get some value for him , the other team picks up experience and he continues playing.

How's his playing shape? Guys tend to lay off the weights more when toying with retirement. I remember an article concerning Strahan and the Giants the season after he retired. Inevitably he had lost too much weight due to his lack of consistent game play conditioning.

I'd like to keep him around as a DE in third down pass rush situations. He's still the best pass rushing DE on this team. I don't really see a ten year veteran DE becoming a 3-4 OLB in a couple of months, and he could be used in nickel and dime situations coming off of the edge.

The only problem with that would be if the Bills would pay his high price tag for a third down situational pass rusher.

BillsWin

I'd keep him for one more year if possible.

He provides solid pass rush skills on the outside and depth at a very important position in the 3-4.

I don't know how he thinks he can miss most of training camp and then come in and play the 3-4 defense. His responsibilities in the 3-4 are gonna be completely different.

and you can't just bring him in on 3rd down to rush the QB from the OLB position... that kind of defeats the purpose of the 3-4.

Nobody's hatin' on ya. But when you start a thread that doesn't make your point clear, you have to expect that we're going to bust on you a little. No worries!

That said, thanks but no thanks Aaron. Especially if he's going to miss time in camp. I would rather develop someone else there instead of wondering if Schobel is going to get it done in the 3-4.

If he stays, move him to LOLB in place of Kelsay. ROLB should be Maybin, that way we have two athletic guys at OLB the faster one being the pass rusher and the stronger one being the run stopper. Similar to Suggs and Jarrett Johnson.

not sure about that as a OLB. If he's going to be good for 1 year and then pull this retirement crap again next year, then I'd rather develop a player who will be here for years.

I'm thinking Schobel does not want to play for the Bills at all. He will report at the very last minute to be able to collect his salary. That will put Gailey on the spot because Schobel will not be ready to play in the Bills new 3-4 defensive scheme. So the Bills will either have to waste a roster spot on him, or cut him. Once cut he signs with whoever he wants.

Schobel said something to the effect that he'd make a decision within ten days, but that didn't mean he'd report to training camp within ten days. I mean if Schobel was serious about playing in Buffalo this year, don't you think he would show up to learn the new system? To me, this is Schobels' way of forcing the Bills hand. They can either pay him what they owe him and deal with the production they get/don't get. Or they can cut him and he's free to sign with a team closer to home. I guess if I were the Bills, I'd start docking his pay for not reporting to camp on time. I like Schobel, but he's handling this situation the wrong way.

We have a new system on D. Camp starts tomorrow.

Exactly how I feel. Does anyone know what the monetary difference is if Schobel retires Vs. being cut?

Schobel wants to know why Gailey has not personally visited his house to beg him to come back. His role model Brett Favre told him he's being disrespected.

The person who got Schobel thinking twice about closing the door on his professional football career was his former position coach with the Bills, who lives near Schobel’s Texas home, serving as the defensive line coach for the Houston Texans.

“I talked to Bill Kollar,” said Schobel. “I played golf with him one day. This is what he said, ‘At the end of the year come January or February whenever the season is over will you regret playing? Or will you regret not playing?’

“That sort of made me think a little more about it. Come January when the season is over I don’t think I’d say, ‘Dang I’m glad I didn’t do that.’ I’ll probably say, ‘Dang I should’ve done it.’ So that made me start thinking about playing a little bit.”

the nfl is going to have to start dealing with these "i don't want to partake in camp" shenanigans.

i realize they don't need to since they are story lines that fans follow. but it's absurd. my sense is that he never thought about not playing this year. he just doesn't want to do camp. and i get the sense that he thinks the team is going to suck again but he likes the money.

my comment to that is that we should trade him. everyone knows that game he's playing.
