    Chris Ellis making early impression

    LINK

Back in April of 2008, when Round 3 of the 2008 NFL Draft began, the Buffalo Bills had already added two players to its roster - cornerback Leodis McKelvin and wide receiver James Hardy. Fans expected the Bills to address the offensive line (Kansas' Anthony Collins was a big name that year), tight end (fans liked Jermichael Finley, Martin Rucker and Brad Cottam), or linebacker positions (Dan Connor had a huge following the year after the Bills picked Paul Posluszny). An undersized defensive end with great speed, like Bruce Davis or Cliff Avril, was not a terribly popular scenario.

Re: Chris Ellis making early impression

I started a thread months ago discussing the possibility for Ellis to emerge this season in the new scheme. Coming out of college he was labeled an OLB for the 3-4 by a lot of scouts and websites so I would hope he comes along nicely. Let's face it, Kelsay isn't the youngest, or the best option out there.

If Ellis performs well, I'd love to see him unseat Kelsay.

Kelsay is unseated...they are trying him at LB. Ellis made an impression in the preseason last year...and then they stuck him on the bench.

          wtf was dick thinking

seems all his players were meant for a 3-4 style.

plus i always felt he would be better suited in 3-4 hopefully keeps it up

Ellis is definitely my sleeper of the year. I personally think he's going to have a breakout season and is a perfect fit for the 3-4 defense.

That's not being unseated: that's a matter of necessity. None of the DE's on the roster last year are 3-4 DE's. But his injury and the performances of Ellis and Maybin, not to mention Schobel will be returning and Coleman and Batten seem to have promise, make Kelsay and his bloated salary expendable.

Man do the Bills suck at drafting or what? I forgot that this guy was a 3rd rounder.

I am still impressed with his highlights from college. I think this guy, like Maybin are better off at Lb'ers

Agree with this. Our DL will be key. If they can occupy blockers enough for our LB's (both inside and out) to run free, then I think our defense will look pretty decent.

I think with how big, mean, and athletic our down lineman are, the entire LB corps should be able to get loose a good amount. Andra Davis is a proven run stopper, Poz is Poz and he'll make plays, and yeah we're young and inexperienced on the outside, but extremely athletic. Our secondary will also help the OLBs, so we could end up with more sacks than expected.

                              Good for him.

It's nice to see some players find a scheme that fits their skill sets.
