Schefter predicts Spiller as last first-rounder to sign

Sounds like an educated guess, but it's a mystery as to what could take so long. A lot of the early picks and late picks are getting done. What's the holdup?

Spiller is tough because he's barely a top-10 pick, yet he's probably a top-5 talent. The Bills can contend that he's a running back and we already have two, so we have the leverage. \

I'm not sure either side has anything.

Just part of the media's campaign to $h*t on the Bills at every turn.

The kid was top 5 on my board and wasn't it reported he was 3rd on the Bills' board?

I cannot wait to see this kid play.

I hope they get it done before preseason. More than likely they will.

I thought I read Nix say he was #1 on their board.
              Draft Gabbert at #3!

When their pick came around yes. But overall he wasn't their top player. It probably went something like

                  Bradford
                  Okung or Williams
                  Spiller

Yeah, I think they said he was far and away their highest rated guy at 9, "if not the entire draft" or something to that effect.

I think you're right, BillsWin: Bradford and one of the tackles were probably rated higher.

Doesn't matter where he was slotted on the Bills board, or how many RB's they currently have on the team. He's a #9 pick, and he will/should be paid just for that. Unless the Bills haven't made an objectively fair offer, the only other hold-ups could be the Spiller side looking for more money than the 9 pick would be slotted at because CJ's a skill position/RB, or a difference over # of years and/or guaranteed money amount.

he's already our best offensive player without ever taking a snap in the NFL...pay him

That is the big thing Bills are playing hardball saying we really dont need CJ right now because of crowded backfield....

I'm not upset with the pick but as i said when it was announced - this team had much bigger needs. And YR hit it on the head. RB and QB always want more money because of the "skill position" factor than being slotted where are they are drafted. It wouldn't surprise me if Spiller is the last one signed (let's not even start to factor in how upset he might be about having to come to Buffalo).
