Free-agent quarterback Akili Smith was in Green Bay for a workout on Wednesday and didn’t do anything to hurt his chances. While Smith wasn’t offered a contract, he had a good workout and the team will continue to talk to his agent, said Mark Hatley, the Packers’ vice president of football operations.
The New Orleans Saints, who are next on Smith’s free agent tour, and New York Jets are also interested in the former first-round pick of the Cincinnati Bengals.
“Akili’s a good athlete, strong arm,” Hatley said. “He’s a good kid and we’ll have to see what happens.”
