    McKinley earns strong support

Defensive tackle Alvin McKinley gets the All-Berea award for an outstanding off-season.

McKinley, a backup last season who was in on two blocked field goals, has been making some noise on the first-team goal-line defense. On the first day of minicamp, he swatted down a Tim Couch pass. He has drawn the praise of offensive linemen.

"If I was going to pick three or four guys that have probably had the best off-season of this entire football team, Alvin McKinley would have to be one of those guys," said coach Butch Davis. "If you talk to [strength coach] Buddy Morris, Alvin McKinley is probably the biggest claim to fame in his career, because his bench press is up about 120 to 125 pounds from a year ago."
