This is so absurd. now they think deals signed a year ago violate the spirit of the cap. i'd be pissed if i was a player.

I would have been in favor of it if they did it a year ago when the contracts were signed, but to wait this long and hit them with it now? That's just plain stupid.

Basically, after they rejected the Kovalchuk deal, Devils fans (and probably their FO) balked and said "well, what about these other contracts?," so now the NHL has to look into the other deals to give the appearance of fairness, after they turned the other cheek for so long on this crap.

Gary Bettman is incompetent.

and essentially this is like a kid calling out their parent about preferential treatment, and now the parent has to reneg to the other child. and now the parent just looks weak and stupid and the kids run the household.

This all leads to another lockout in 2012. i hope quinn and regier start testing out the super wide net and the blue ice again.
