Buffalo (6-6), with solid performances from rookie quarterback Trent Edwards and third-string running back Fred Jackson, broke a two-game skid to keep its AFC playoff hopes alive
Full recap
Who to watch
Trent Edwards
The offensive line is going to be severely shorthanded as the coaching staff continues to progress Eric Wood and Demetrius Bell slowly after serious injuries during the 2009 season. As if the QB situation wasn't interesting enough, pay close attention to how Trent handles knowing that his line is more subpar than usual: Does he look to checkdown too quickly? Does he make more than one read? How quick is he to move out of the pocket? Let's see if he's got that confidence back - not that there's any reason he should.
Aaron Maybin
Being one of the most talked about players on the roster is not always a good thing. Friday night is an important statement game for Aaron Maybe even if it's the preseason. The current staff has no allegiance towards the player drafted 11th overall in the 2009 draft and could limit his role depending on how he performs in the exhibition season. Will Maybin play on 1st or 2nd downs or be simply a situational rusher?
Corner Battle - Florence vs. McKelvin
Most of us realize that Leodis McKelvin possesses the most natural ability of the two players, however he is rightfully listed as the backup to journeyman Drayton Florence. McKelvin is playing catch-up in part due to Florence's fantastic year last year and poor performances thus far in training camp. I believe that McKelvin is a true "gamer" and will step up in game situations. Will it be enough to surpass the veteran corner with whom he is challenging for a starting spot?
C.J. Spiller
Spiller may very well be the most exciting, dangerous player on the roster even before taking his first NFL snap. I'll be looking to see what he can do in the screen game out of the backfield and the short passing game in the slot. Also, will the Bills use him between the tackles right away?
