    49ers Workout Frost

The workouts keep coming at team headquarters as Thursday the 49ers will have yet another pair of free agent veterans at the facility. Most notable in the duo is former Jet and Packer safety Scott Frost.

Frost is perhaps best remembered for his college career as a quarterback where he led the Nebraska Cornhuskers to a co-National Championship as a senior in 1998. As a senior, he set school records for quarterbacks for most carries (176), rushing yards (1,095) and rushing touchdowns (19) in a season.

    49ers Sign Free Agent Frost

Staying busy in free agency the 49ers signed veteran safety Scott Frost to a one-year contract Monday. Frost worked out for the team last Thursday and was impressive enough to earn a contract.

The 6-3, 218-pound Frost was originally selected by the Jets in the third round of the 1998 draft where he was converted to safety. He spent his first three NFL seasons in New York before being waived and claimed by the Cleveland Browns where he appeared in 12 games.

      Frost makes his case

Former college QB tries to make roster at safety
NFL training camps, like the naked city, have a million stories, and into the 49ers' camp this year comes the tale of Scott Frost, onetime wonderboy turned NFL traveler.

You may remember Frost as the can't-miss kid who came to play for Bill Walsh at Stanford in 1993 from a small town in Nebraska, sporting a white- blond crew cut and a right arm that evoked memories of John Elway.

Ten years later, the close-cropped blond hair is still recognizable, but little else is. Frost is entering the sixth year of his NFL career as a defensive back, and now is trying to force his way on to the 49ers' 53-man roster as a fifth safety -- when the team might keep only four.
