11/20/2010- vs. Mich St.

1st Qtr:
10:11- They are moving Ryan around but the plays seem to always be away from him.
9:33- Gets around his blocker to get a hand on the RB.
9:01- Tried to get the edge but was effectively walled off. That gave Cousins the time for the TD throw.
7:50- Totally missed where the play went. Didn't get off his block.
7:14- Pushed back the RT. He has the strength to get a bull rush.
6:33- Nice push getting through the blocker. Looks like he can maul in there to get separation.
6:14- Doesn't seem to be that quick.
4:28- Relies more on using his hands and strength to get pressure rather than speed.

2nd Qtr:
14:08- Good job getting off block for a tackle.
12:45- Shows he's got some wiggle and can get free with his moves.
5:02- Throws off the blocker.
4:44- Takes a nice inside move to blow past the RT for a big sack. Not to say it was cat quick or a juke type move, he just cut back inside and pushed past the RT. He's a bull rusher with great strength and a good motor.

Ryan Kerrigan is a strong ox. He gets good pressure due to his leverage and strength. He may have good success against finesse blockers by pushing them aside. He's a decent tackler and plays with a good motor to be disruptive. However, as a pass rusher, he's only got average quickness and speed. He has the strength to be considered as a 3-4 DE, but not ideal height or weight. His limitations with quickness and speed may hurt his ability to be reliable in coverage as a 3-4 OLB. He may be best suited to be a 4-3 DE.
