Steelers coach Bill Cowher declared quarterback Tommy Maddox's contract situation a "dead issue" Thursday, but he knows he hasn't heard the last of it.
"I can't eliminate you guys (reporters) from writing articles," he said. "I guess I just have to deal with it. That's fine. The contracts in this business are a part of it."
Maddox said earlier this week that he is disappointed -- but acceptive of the fact -- that the Steelers won't try to rework a contract that pays him less money than backup quarterback Charlie Batch.
