Anyone else watching him play? I know it's preseason but he looks excellent for a late round rookie. I think he's better than alex smith.

He went to the same high school as me. As did Joey Galloway. I have been keeping tabs on him

He does look solid. Kinda reminds me of a younger (and blacker) version of Kurt Warner.

He's not a rookie, he's in his second year in the league. Reportedly has looked bad in TC, there's a reason David Carr is comfortable as the #2.

He was dirty at Ball State. He was their QB two years ago when they had that cinderella year.

What have you been reading?

I've heard that he's looked fantastic and is the #2 and that Carr is on his way out the door.

Not like Carr is a scrub. David Carr would be better than anyone we have as a backup. Sorry Carr is more ready for backup work than Fitz or Brohm. I'm not saying bring in Davis. Just was saying he looked very impressive. All the announcers were on his nuts. Did you see that one bomb he hit Ginn with, think it was 50 yds in air?

49ers coach Mike Singletary was "very disappointed" with the play of No. 3 quarterback Nate Davis in Sunday night's exhibition game.

Davis showed outstanding arm strength on a 65-yard bomb to Ted Ginn, but blew "several" protection calls and is clearly not pushing David Carr to be Alex Smith's primary backup. Singletary called out Davis' work ethic after the game: "I don't think he's put himself in a position to really compete. There's a lot to like about him, but there is a work ethic that's involved in terms of being a quarterback in the NFL and he's got to get it. It's as simple as that."

Davis' biggest problem with protections/plays had been his learning diability (and a bout of the lazy's). Combine those together and you'll have a QB with a rocket arm that struggles as he does.

Couldn't agree more. Carr is better than any of our QBs.

I think Edwards is better than Carr, but very narrowly. Very.

I'd take Carr, if only because he's not afraid to throw the ball down the field.

Personally Jan, Ill take you as the QB because Im pretty sure you have a far greater understanding of just what the **** is going on out there than either one of the two choices.
