Got a new name for you to watch... Vad Lee. Just committed to play at Georgia Tech next year, from Hillside HS in Durham. He's their quarterback, but was being recruited as an athlete at most schools... though I suppose with Tech's system, he'd fit at QB there.

I covered one of their playoff games last year, and he's definitely athletic, no doubt about that. He would have a lot to work on as a true QB, but again, he's probably safer as a Yellow Jacket.

I probably won't have any of his games this year unless he ends up in a playoff games against one of the schools closer to my house, but I'll definitely keep tabs on him.

This was a huge get for Tech as he was I believe their #2 QB target. He was a 3-star athlete according to Rivals and this is what the AJC wrote on him;

Not sure if you read much of Chip Towers but he's the recruiting guru down here, good guy as well, he can accessible via his twitter account and loves to talk recruiting.

The road for Lee won't be easy, I was at Tech's Spring Game and Sophomore Tevian Washington put on a show. Which isn't bad for Lee who would need a year anyways to sit and watch. Washington will be a Junior next season so he would have Lee behind for two seasons as most.

Georgia Tech now has 12 commits this season and had another QB commit, but if they landed Lee they were likely going to move him to WR (Airyn Wells-High Point, NC). This is Tech's third recruit from NC this year with Lee, Wells, and LB Tremayne McNair (Jacksonville, NC).

Lots of good kids out of the Durham area this year the best being TJ Thopre (UNC commit).

Honestly, I don't pay a great deal of attention to recruiting, outside of some Miami prospects, and now that I have some sort of involvement with the local high school football scene, I pay attention there as well.

Durham is interesting, they seem to produce some of the top talent, yet their teams are never all that good. The schools in my area routinely get the best of them and fair better in the state playoffs as well.

Couple of more names to keep your eyes on... Garrett Leatham, QB from Middle Creek HS

I had several of their games last year and as a junior this kid looked to have it. Makes some great throws for the high school level and keeps his poise very well. Being 6'5 also helps a fair amount too. He's had some interest from ACC schools, but nothing solid as of yet.

Ben Snotherly, QB Athens Drive HS

Only had them once last year and didn't know a ton about him, but he's talked about regularly in the area. Getting interest from several schools, mostly ACC, but supposedly Notre Dame as well. Decent size and a good pro style QB. Has an older brother at NC State, not sure if that will make any impact or not.

Brian Taylor - Harnett Central HS

Had them late in the playoffs last year and they went on to lose in the state championship game. Solid passing QB, but also good with his feet as he had over 1,000 yards on the ground and 11 TDs to go with 2,100+ and 15 passing TDs last season. 6'3 and 200 lbs, and a three star recruit currently... Offers from UNC, Clemson, ECU, and just picked up NC State last week.

Sweet man! Thanks a lot, Im trying to ease my way into recruiting now as Draft Nasty starts to expand a little, its just extremely difficult with so many teams and players. I always appreciate the names, I put them down on my 2015 list.

Hopefully he's ok, because I've got their game next Friday as it turns out.

Just got on the field and Thorpe is in street clothes during warmups... I'm bummed.
