Without a doubt...we have the ABSOLUTE WORST collection of TE's in the league.

Jay Riemersma should stop running for congress and come out of retirement...

The 6-foot-5 George had a career-best 30 catches for 408 yards and five touchdowns at Brigham Young last year.

I didn't realize Matthews was a 5-time pro bowler. Schouman and Nelson will be back in a few weeks, you know.

Not bad, considering he was the backup to Dennis Pitta.

i say just put the backup OL at the position and go power run the whole time. maybe roll a guy out butch rolle style. that's as far as trent seems to look anyways.

i'm fearing that robert royal is going ot be brough back at some point.

The Packers will likely cut one of the 5 TE's they have on roster before season starts. We should grab one if so. Donald Lee could be the man out. Well Finely is the starter for sure and not going anywhere. Andrew Quarless • Donald Lee • Jermichael Finley • Spencer Havner • Tom Crabtree

seems like we're the stray dogs waiting for GB to throw out their garbage. Not complaining though. So far we've taken decent cheese that we can use for depth.

Considering the talent GB has on offense, I'd take their 4th receiver over our 2nd, 4th TE over our first, etc.

Quarless is not much of a blocker, good receiver though. Havner was a red zone machine last year. I don't know much about Tom Crabtree, but Lee would be a good pickup if they cut him, which they very well might.

and by that time we'll be 0-4 and it will be too late for it to matter.

We should of gotten Winslow Jr. when we had the chance.

Let's see. Once everyone mends, we have the following people looking for touches.

Spiller
Lynch
Fred Jackson
Parrish
Evans
Hardy
Steve Johnson
Chad Jackson

Like the TE was going to catch 60 ?

If he can block his shadow and not jump offsides, he's doing his job.

What I like most about this kid is his size. He's 250+ at 6' 4" which is the perfect size for a TE.

Why is everybody ready to right him off before he even sees a play?

His college statsa re not too bad: 70 receptions for 827 yards and 11 touchdowns in 38 career games for the Cougars. That averages 20+ yards per catch and a TD every few games.

With what the Bills have right now, he is a welcome addition to the roster.

He runs solid routes (very effective underneath in the middle zone (between LB and S), shows soft hands, and a little bit of power. He is not a blocker though.

When you're forced into having to sign TEs on the last day of training camp, and in the middle of preseason, you're not going to be signing pro bowlers. That's just reality. Nelson, when he comes back does have some athleticism and pass catching ability, if he can improve as a blocker over time.

I certainly hope he shines. However, It's really tough to be optimistic about any player who didn't make any of the 32 rosters each currently fielding 80+ players.
