That may only be 2-3 moves for the Bills. The real purge comes Saturday.

We'll only need to cut 3 because Easley and Batten are currently taking up roster spots, even though they're on IR. Once that deadline comes, they won't be on the roster anymore.

My guesses (assuming we are at 78):
FB Rodney Ferguson
CB Lydell Sargeant
LB Keith Ellison

Don't agree about ellison.. Not yet anyway.. He's in a battle with Moats for that 4 ILB spot.

and yes, we only need to cut three guys. NO clue who they may be, though I suspect and OL and DL will be 2 of those 3, probably a DB the other one, or possibly a RB (Ferguson or Anderson)

Ellison was wishful thinking.

I don't see Ellison or Hardy getting cut.... yet. They may not make the final roster but the coaches will give them the chance to prove themselves over the last week of preseason.

We have 82 total players with 78 counting toward that cap, so 3 need to be cut. We have 3 on IR and one on PUP.

He is on my wishlist as well. :sigh:

With three guys getting cut does it matter? Unless there is some super shocker it will be three guys who have barely touched the field in the preseason.

They could cut Brohm or Brown I guess.

Roster note regarding cuts (http://blogs.buffalobills.com/2010/08/30/roster-note-regarding-cuts/)

By Chris Brown - Posted August 30, 2010 – 12:31 pm
With the deadline to release players to get the roster down to 75, there is one note that should be mentioned.
Despite the fact that Danny Batten and Marcus Easley have both been placed on injured reserve, they currently still count toward the roster total in the preseason. So although the Bills have only 78 healthy players on their roster, their roster total in the eyes of the NFL is still 80.
But by 4 pm Tuesday the two I-R’d players will no longer count so ultimately the team will only have to move three players off their roster to get down to 75. Batten and Easley will no longer count against the roster effective Tuesday at 4 pm.
The reason Felton Huggins and Michael Matthews do not count against the team’s roster total is because they were put through waivers before reverting to the team’s injured reserve list.

Or Fitz.

Or Fitz.

Fitz actually looked good on Saturday...real good. I like Brohm from the Louisville days, but I would have a hard time saying he should definitely be the 2nd QB. I don't think he has looked bad, and in fact, his only pass was a perfectly placed ball down the sidelines that was dropped by Jones.

Ellison...I was thinking this weekend, maybe I am wrong about him, and he is a decent option as LB depth. I didn't like him, and still don't, as a starter, but he might serve a purpose.

Hennessy has done a good job as the backup LG.

agreed I could actually see him sticking as a reserve on the 53 man roster!

I've been very impressed with him, and he certiantly deserves a roster spot over Kirk Yellow Flag Turnstyle Chambers.

Usually there's at least one guy released that is a little bit of a shocker, followed by the inevitable "We thought it was best for the player to cut him now, and give him an opportunity to sign with another team."

Brohm, Hardy, Chambers, Johnson, McCargo, Ellison, Corner & Youboty all fit that mold, to a certain degree.

That being said, and barring any other unforeseen IR moves, I think the 'big' three will be WR Aaron Rhea, G/C Christian Gaddis, and TE Andrew George.

We've got way too many wide-outs on the roster, one of the o-linemen have to go, and we're going to run with two true TE's to start the season anyway, plugging in an o-lineman for three TE sets so you might as well get some game action under your belt for that scenario.
