    Browns receiver is all business

Receiver Dennis Northcutt caught almost everything that came his way last season, and now the Browns will try to catch him if they can.

Northcutt, heading into the final year of his four-year contract, said yesterday that his agent, Jerome Stanley, has begun talking to the Browns about a contract extension.

If they don't redo the deal, Northcutt will become a free agent after this season. The Browns have the option of tagging him with the franchise or transition labels, meaning teams would have to compensate the Browns with draft picks to sign him. The tags also mean the Browns would have to pay Northcutt the average of the top five or 10 receivers in the league.
