he could be another big weapon on O. olsen does not fit in the martz system. For a fourth and a late round pick next year I would be down

This one may actually have some merit. They desperately need a second legit receiving threat, and that would be worth a third-rounder

He's an upgrade to Stupar as a receiver and blocker. And he's an upgrade to Nelson as a blocker.

Two quality TE's who compliment each other would be a nice thing for this team to have. And unless Shawn Nelson becomes a very good TE this year, I think TE is a position we will think about in next years draft.

I wouldn't mind it.

I'd definitely take Olsen for a 3rd. Possibly even a 2nd.

He's no Matt Leinart.

He's a legit football player.

Still, this front office values draft choices more than most , so I'd think of a current player or 2 to offer instead.

Not necessarily. I think they want younger players, not trading picks for older guys whose future time left is uncertain.

I agree - trading a draft pick for a guy like Olsen is still sticking with the youth movement.

I'd do it for a 3rd, probably. He's a better receiver than Nelson by a wide margin.

3rd rounder for Olsen?

Bargain.

Id offer some of our CB depth potentially. I think it would be a player for player type swap.

Olsen is only 25.

I'd do a third in a heartbeat.

Not gonna happen.

Unfortunately, it's just not the Buffalo way.

Olsen is a good tight end and better than most TEs you would be able to get in the 2nd and definitely the 3rd round. I'd do it in a heartbeat for a 3rd rounder and would also give them a 2nd for Olsen and a late round pick.

Asking price is just a starting point. Think of all the good players that have been traded through the years (Randy Moss comes to mind), for lower draft picks.
I think he is worth a 3rd, and would be valuable to the franchise and to the offense. I think a 4th would get it done. So lets make it happen and get the guy here. An effective TE would do wonders for this offense.

we might already have one, but we won't find out for a few weeks because he's a pot head.

Olsen has a chance to be a very good TE in this league and he is still young. I would definitely do it for a 3rd, but not a second. Olsen is like a mix of Plaxico Burress and Todd Heap.

Makes one wonder why he's on the block, if indeed he is...

If they are willing to take a 3rd then this trade should have already been done.

Because Martz doesn't use TEs that much in his offense. It's all based on timing routes with the WRs. I don't think a TE has ever succeeded in his offense.

This would be fantastic if it happened.

The feeling I get is that Nix is not scared to get on the phone and, at least, ask what it would take. I am sure that they would be following Olsen really close if her were available.

I really hope this one gets some legs.

I would have no issue giving up a 3rd for him. He is only 25, which means we get to skip the learning curve and enjoy his prime years. His talent would be great to have picked up in the 3rd round, and he is nowhere near the gamble that spending a 3rd on a TE would be.

The best part would be being able to skip the 734,213 posts about the players that were drafted after him, or before him, and how, if we only could have lost 2 more games, we could have drafted so and so.

Dude why not doooooooooo this

get on the phone now he would open up the field so much for us

then double TE sets would be SIIIIIIIIIIIIIIICK!

What's with the Greg Olsen love? He has totally underwhelmed since he came out of college. I didn't really like him coming out of the draft and I surely don't like giving up a pick for him. His production has never matched his potential, college or pros. Waste of a pick imo.

He definitely hasn't matched the first round production expected of him. But he's produced enough that he'd be a by-far significant upgrade for us at TE. He's improved every year in terms of receptions, yards and TD's. I'm on the fence...but in the end, I'd say he's probably worth a 3rd-rounder.

This makes TOO much sense for us to do...he'll get traded to some team that doesn't really need him like Seattle or Atlanta

i would have this deal done a week ago.

We need a TE he is olsen > 3rd any day of the year

it would help fill a hole and when nelson comes back creates more depth and threats on offense
