Picked in the 09 draft... I was off a few years.

Heres what I found:

Practice Squad Eligibility

According to league policy, only certain types of players are allowed to sign to the practice squad. Players cannot have played more than nine regular season games or been on the active roster for an entire year, nor can players be allowed to spend more than two seasons on the same team's squad unless that team's active roster never dips below 53 players.

So I think no.

By all accounts from niner fans, he's looked very good, lots of fans calling for him to take over for Alex Smith even.

By all accounts from niner fans, he's looked very good, lots of fans calling for him to take over for Alex Smith even.

On a rebuilding team, looking at guys with potential makes sense.

watched a few of their pre season games... the kid has a big arm and did some good things. However, needs to improve in many areas.

But then I found this and realized why he probably won't be a starter in this league. He doesn't seem like the brightest bulb (think Losman), and apparently he also has a learning disability.

Singletary delivered stinging comments about Davis.

"Right now, Nate Davis is working his tail off to try and learn this system," Singletary was quoted in Bay Area newspapers after Sunday's game. "But in the offseason, that's when you take the time to get that done, and I'm not sure how hard he worked this offseason getting that done.


"So when I talk about work ethic, you just can't turn it on and turn it off, and now to come to training camp (and say), 'Coach, I'm really trying. I'm really trying.' You know what? The offseason when we were in the OTAs, the minicamps and all those things, that's when you have to get that done.


"And that's when you have to stay up and drive the coaches crazy and look at film and ask all the questions you possibly can. I'm not sure he did that. So right now, it's a lot he has to get in a short amount of time. Hopefully, he can do that. I don't know. We'll see."


Singletary's opinion certainly wasn't good for a second-year player trying to move up from the No. 3 quarterback position.

This is probably typical of a moderate player coming out of college. Chances are, they think they are just in a 'bigger' college setting, and the realisation of what it takes to be a true professional, doesn't sink in quickly enough.
You don't 'cram' an NFL playbook just before, or during, TC.
