ALLEN PARK, Mich. - In past eras of professional football, most players took a second job as soon as the season ended. Very rarely did they attend off-season conditioning sessions or even full-team practices.
The times have definitely changed. In today's era, being a professional football player requires almost an entire year's worth of training. The Lions' participation in five mini-camps in a span of 12 weeks is a testiment to that.
Because of that long period of time used for training, many of the Lions are looking forward to the seven weeks of rest they will have off from now until the official first day of training camp on July 27....
