Miami's inside linebackers last year, Channing Crowder (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=8484) and the recently released Akin Ayodele (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=3617), ranked fourth from the bottom and 12th from the bottom in TIR among all linebackers.

Then there was free safety Gibril Wilson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=5661), who was vilified by Dolfans for his missed tackles. Wilson had a surprisingly average 11.39 TIR (70 solos, nine missed tackles). But Monson points out Wilson missed seven tackles through the first six games. His miscues played a significant role in Miami's 2-4 start.

Buffalo Bills (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/clubhouse?team=buf) safety Donte Whitner (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9594) ranked 10th with a 6.38 TIR (44 solos, three misses), but pleasant surprise George Wilson (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/players/profile?playerId=9267) was 14th with a 7.46 TIR (62 solos, five misses). Monson notes George Wilson finished second among safeties in a stat ProFootballFocus.com calls "stops," tackles that result in an offensive failure such as denying a third-down conversion.

After noticing Yeremiah Bell's all-effort ST play against us a season or two before he started, this was no surprise to me. And great to see OUR Wilson be able to apply himself so well to playing defense and become one of the better tackling safeties in the NFL, rather than just a coverback.

I lost all credibility for this sight for the fact that Whitner is listed as a good tackler. I counted around 4 missed tackles in each preseason game, 2 were for TDs

:jk:

Obviously I cannot personally attest to these numbers, just a very relevant article that Graham wrote.

I think Ayodele is a very poor player. I have seem him lack courage in the field before. I hope he comes to play for us.

I know we are all experts, but why was he starting on so many playoff teams if he stunk so bad. He actually was the starter on playoff teams 4 out of the last 5 years.

Maybe he was just lucky.

If I am honest, I overstated. But I have seen him flounder comically as well as play well.

At least we didn't sign someone no one has ever heard of.

Don't be silly, you know the only time that we do that is during the draft.

Ayodele is solid...he isn't flashy or anything but your DC will get the best out of him.
