Re: Question: How competitive would a Rivers, Ryan, Schaub QB
how's your pass protection?
if it's decent rivers would be solid
he's also like 1 or 2 vs the blitz the last few years, usually gets rid of the ball fast, doesn't make alot of stupid mistakes

Re: Question: How competitive would a Rivers, Ryan, Schaub QB
Between bad systems, bad coaching, bad surrounding cast, etc I am not sure any young QB could of succeeded getting drafted in Buffalo in the last 5-10 years. They are set up to fail. Big Ben, Schaub, Rivers, Rodgers all would of not done well in Buffalo. I do think they would of done better than Edwards who has no pocket prescence and panics which is very bad trait for a QB at any level.

This team is not a bad team, we are not that far away. Our WRs are good IMO. They all bring a different skill set and have good hands. We know our RBs are good also. We just need a QB that will make defenses respect our passing game and give our RBs a chance. Trent makes this team one dimensional and that is easy to defend.

Originally posted by MahdiOur offense would be solid. It has gotten so bad with Trent that it is obvious that he is the one holding this offense back. He looked just as bad with time to throw as he did when he didn't have time.

How did Big Ben do with a similarly crappy offensive line last year? His line got him sacked 50 times, but he still finished with a 66.6 completion rate, 4328 yards, 26 TDs and 12 INTs.Wake up, brush your teeth, and get ready for a day of hating the Dolphins. Or the Pats? How to choose?

Originally posted by Saratoga SlimI fully agree. Our offensive line is bad, but Trent makes it look worse with his total inability to feel pressure, move away from it, know when there's time etc.

Trent actually brings good players down. Evans, Lynch, Jackson, Spiller, Parrish are all looking like garbage.

Originally posted by MahdiYou can say the same about Rodgers and Schaub. Edwards is just a liability IMO. Some QBs make average players good, some make good players great and some just go in there and keep things even.

That's because none of them are good players.
We're a team full of nice complimentary players and bums. There are zero playmakers, no O-line to speak of and absolutely the worst trifecta of garbage behind center in recent memory of the NFL.
Spiller who could be a playmaker, we'll never know because everyone he needs to help him succeed flat out blows, is still only a rookie and you have no idea what he's gonna end up being.
Lee Evans? Steals 9 million dollars a year. Bum number 1 WRs have put up numbers because there is no one else to go to. Good number 1 WRs also put up numbers with garbage around them...look at Roddy White when he had Redman and Harrington throwing to him. Trent Edwards is no worse than Chris Redman.
Lynch? No hole recognition...which to be honest, there isn't many holes to be found.
Jackson? At least he finds the holes and attacks them but honestly, he's an average NFL RB.
Parrish? Is in no way shape or form an NFL WR. He's a gimmick. He's Az Zahir Hakim only smaller.

Yer bagging on Lee Evans for what? Not throwing the ball to himself? And our OL and RBs are supposed to block an entire defense keying only on the run game.
Flippin Yeremiah Bell was playing LB yesterday because he could care less if Trent dropped back to pass.
You have no idea what yer talking about.
And BTW Chris Redman threw the football. He didn't sit back there in the pocket looking like a fool.Last edited by Mahdi; 09-13-2010, 07:48 AM.

Lynch...if you haven't figured out by now he has no vision I don't know what games you're watching.
Parrish is too small to hold up as a regular player. As an NFL receiver you have to make some tough catches in traffic once in a while. What happened when Parrish had one of those? He hurt his back.
I already gave you that we'll never find out what Spiller has, because we don't have an athletic line and tackles who can block worth a crap. Spiller is a guy who won't be successful running up the middle, he'll make plays out in space. But when you have an O-line who has ZERO ability to seal the edge, his talent is wasted. If this doesn't get rectified in the next 2-3 years guess what people will call Spiller? Bust.
Outside of Lee Evans, what WR on this roster would do anything on another team? Victor Cruz who had a monster preaseason was INACTIVE in week 1, meanwhile we're stuck playing Stevie Johnson as a number 2 WR or Nelson who saw significant playing time yesterday.
Jake Delhomme was absolutely putrid and gave away a game today, another QB who puts no fear into anyone, and the Browns still ran for over 100 yards as a team while calling about 5 running plays in the second half.
This team needs to be completely blown up. You could go through WRs available in FA right now and assemble a better receiving corps. You could go through QBs available in FA right now and get a better signal caller. Same for tight ends, same for O-line. The front office needs to be blown up. The coaching staff needs to be blown up. Ralphie needs to learn to shell out some dollars for the people that matter to make the football decisions.
If you think I'm kidding on FAs...an offense with Bulger/Garcia with Javon Walker, Marty Booker, Coles, Tyree is better than Edwards/Fitzdouchetrick Evans, Johnson, Parrish, Nelson. TEs? Anthony Becht and Steve Heiden. O-line? Mike Gandy and Jon Jansen vs Green and Bell.
Gailey needs to go with Jackson and run him 30 times a game. Play clock control. Keep the ball out of Trent Edwards hands, because he has no idea what to do with the ball when he has it. He has no o-line to block for him. And he has no weapons to throw the ball to.
Last year the offense looked just as crappy but we still could run the ball better than we did yesterday.

Evans numbers suffered.

What did Lee do when Holcomb was the QB?
What did Lee do last year when Fitzpatrick was throwing the ball downfield?
Keep giving Lee the excuse that it's Trent's fault though, history shows outside of JP Losman throwing up prayers to him, Lee Evans has done a whole lot of nothing here.
