Whew, our QB's stink! Obviously, we need to spend a first round pick on one. Right now, I'd say Ryan Mallett from Arkansas. Thoughts?

Id recommend you take a look in the Scouting Forum.

http://www.billszone.com/fanzone/forumdisplay.php?f=2

Several of us post lots of opinions on players.

There are lots of player profiles here:

Offense: http://www.billszone.com/fanzone/forumdisplay.php?f=135
Defense: http://www.billszone.com/fanzone/forumdisplay.php?f=136

And my top player list here (click any of the player names and it will take you to the profile):

We also have a few posters who do this for other websites. Draftboy writes for Draft Nasty:

Agreed, right now, subject to change.

i like mallet or luck if he comes out, locker doesn't look good and doesn't win, not a fan of locker

Just watched the Huskers whoop on the Huskies. Locker looked horrible.... he is not anywhere near the passer he needs to be to be successful in the NFL.

Pat Devlin in round two or three. I want a left tackle or a complete stud playmaker with our high first rounder.

Not sure you will find one worthy of that high of a pick.

Of course, we don't know exactly where the Bills will pick. I am concerned that Buffalo is not a good situation for a young QB to come into and be successful. For me, the offensive line is a higher priority for the draft, though I wouldn't turn down a solid veteran QB. I think a good veteran could come in and be successful with the rest of this offense as it's presently constituted. I don't think a rookie would be. If Buffalo is drafting top 5, I would personally at least attempt a trade down.

Chances of finding a franchise QB in the 1st round and a good LT in the 2nd round is greater than finding a franchise LT in the 1st round and a good QB in the 2nd round.

1) Top 3

2) Teams are built around QB's, not o-linemen.

Well, Todd McShay likes Locker so that means he will flame out. I like Luck.

LBs are the safest bet in the 1st round. Considering our drafting success of late, 50-50 shots (WR, QB).

I watched Gabe Carimi (LT for Wisconsin) somewhat today. He didn't get a good push in the run game, but once he got his paws on his guy, he almost never let the guy go. Was good in pass protection.

But honestly, depending on if Luck comes out, I'm with BillsWin. I don't know if I see any QB who is truly worth a top pick. Mallett is looking good, but he'll have to be consistent this year and it would be nice if he wasn't a punk in interviews.

There's a lot of decent QB's who might go later that I wouldn't mind getting a WR, OT, etc. in the first round and going QB on the second day.

I want my quarterback to be 6'6" and throw the ball more than 15 yards downfield. Give me Mallet

NOT THE DUDE...

MALLET IS THE GUY...

Right now Id say it will take the #1 overall pick to get Luck... which we may have. If not, Mallett may be in play between picks 2 and 15.

But its very early, a lot has to happen.

luck. I was a locker guy but he isn't refining his game. Luck is getting better and better.

It will be typical Bill's luck and Andew Luck won't declare.

At this point its more than likely IMO. I think he declares.

Is there more hope or fact? I think if Harbaugh leaves he declares, I also think that if Stanford wins the Pac 10 he declares, I'm not very convinced otherwise.

I too have been giving the QB position a lot of thought. Sadly, Buddy Nix has not and doesnt seem to think we need a QB.

Here are some of my choices:
Mallett, Lock, Evelyn. However, let's not forget about free agents or trades. We had an opportunity with the talented Rhett Bomar this summer, but again Buddy choose to pass. Matt Moore may available. We were stupid to pass on Clausen when he fell into our laps in the 2nd.

Anyhows, great post Doc Z!
