    For now, the New England Patriots have two selections in each of the first four rounds of the 2011 draft.When I say "for now," I don't necessarily mean they could potentially trade some of those picks.

      Its even crazier how many of these picks end up being wastes for them. You would think that they end up with double the studs for double the picks, instead their number of hits (not rate) is the same as the rest of the league.

      Maybe they need all those picks to stay on par.

            well as we see with the Chiefs recent drafts...they are missing scott pioli...but with the v-jack trade coming, they haven't lost too many brains

              the patriots know how to get mileage out of their players. Well coached team with well coached players...

              they know when to cut bait, and they are set up for a full rebuild in a season or 2.

                    Ah, but you've captured the master plan!

                    If the typical competent NFL team hits on 50% of their draft picks, then the logical plan is to play the odds and get twice as many draft picks.

                    That way, through rounds 1 through 4, the Pats expect to hit on 4 players (50% of 8 picks) whereas everyone else hits on 2.

                    Simple, yet brilliant.
                    Still searching for that offensive rhythm.
