-Derek Roy- wow. If he could play like that consistently, this team will be "scary good" again.

-Gaustad remains my favorite player on this team. He doesn't take a second off, he hits, he works hard along the boards. At one point, one of the Ottawa players tried to drill him near the boards and he barely even moved. The Ottawa player bounced off like a pinball.

-Hecht's experience is a benefit to this team. He created scoring chances by moving to the right place as the puck came up the ice, and he covered for pinching defenders (more on that later). He just needs to be more careful in the neutral zone.

-So far, I see no difference between Tallinder/Myers last year and Morisson/Myers this year as the top defense pair.

-Ennis has talent but he needs to relax and just react to the play. He's second-guessing himself still.

-**** Thomas Vanek. This guy had 3 scoring chances in the FIRST PERIOD, and probably another 2-3 over the course of the game. If he scores on 1/3 of those, this game is a blowout. Also, he was doing nothing on the Ottawa goal (you could see from the wide angle shot they showed on the replay). He may not have made it back in time, but some ****ing EFFORT would have been nice.

-Ottawa didn't really challenge Miller until late in the 3rd, but he came through when he had to. He had no real chance on the one Ottawa goal.

-I'm not sure I like Leopold's pinches. He gets in really deep and isn't great at it. He needs to be aware of who is on the ice when he does it- Hecht is smart enough to cover for him, Stafford and Ennis- not so much.

-I think Rivet is done. He's the weak link on the D, just like last year.

-It was great to see Alfredsson and his 70's porn 'stache be non-factors.

-Chris Neil is, and always will be, a dirty punk *****.

I like Montador setting up the play from behind his net. I think one of the commentators mentioned how he has a knack for getting out and starting the offense.

I didn't notice that but I'll watch for it next game.

That penalty on Grier with a couple minutes left was atrocious.

I thought they looked alot tougher and much more physical. Power play, at times, looked real good. They were better at winning the one on one battles, and thus, were able to sustain puck possession in their scoring zone. They generated ALOT of scoring chances. They only had 2 goals to show for it, but in all fairness, Leclaire was great in goal last night. I thought there defense was pretty good most of the time.

I did not like there sloppy play, at times, in Ottawa's end. At times, they would make sloppy passes, the passes would not sit on the stick of our guys, and would get stuck in inopportne places.

All in all, I was very impressed. Its always great to get a W, especially, on the road, against a very good opponent.

Keep it up though.
