For me all 3 of our obvious hopeful draft prospects are very good. The thing I ask myself is: If i took these 3 guys and put them in the NFL right now, which guy would do the best? To me thats Andrew Luck. I'm sold on him no matter what. This guy is just a natural.

There is another scenario which i am interested in. Say we get the #1 pick and dont draft a QB, taking Blaine Gabbert in the 2nd. Who would we get in the 1st and would you rather this scenario over the Luck scenario.

If Luck doesn't come out this is the scenario I like...
Round 1... Adrian Clayborn
Round 2... Gabe Carimi
Round 3....Ponder/Devlin/ Gabbert

I doubt Gabbert and Ponder make the 3rd. Delving is as good as Levi Brown rofl

Perhaps we go Joseph Barksdale (OT) LSU and then take Gabbert/Ponder/Pryor(if Availible) in 2nd

That would be one hell of a reach.. Unless the Bills win the Super Bowl and picked 32nd in the 1st ROund

If Luck doesnt come out and we had the first, i would trade out for picks. Even if it is slightly below market value. I would really like a future first to move out of that spot. Then I would keep moving.

We dont even have a solid foundation yet. Get a RT, OLB's and a stud all around TE.

I really dont want to get a QB for the sake of getting a QB. I can go one more year with a solid draft and FA.

After watching how much Florida State's offensive package looks like our own and the fact we're scouting Ponder.

Christian Ponder will be drafted by the Bills.

i think if luck doesn't come out I can see this, nix drafts on value and he won't reach on locker,

idk if mallet is worth the 1st yet, he might be more of a 10-15 pick range

I say Luck. If he doesnt declare. We go Offensive tackle 1st round Gabbert in the 2nd. I'd take Pryor or Ponder in the 2nd if Gabbert was already drafted

There is no OT worthy of a high first round pick.

With Trent Edwards gone, the odds of the Bills drafting a QB high in the draft (first or second round) have increased significantly, whether or not they think Brian Brohm has a chance to blossom. I think those odds might be better than 50/50 now. However, it's a little early for me to worry about which one yet. Beyond the fact that Mallet is big, not terrifically mobile, but has a cannon for an arm and Luck is schooled in the west coast offense, I don't know much about any of them.

Agreed, the guy makes things happen, and for someone who's meant to not be very mobile he has an amazing ability to take one or two steps and avoid defenders who get into the backfield.

Gotta be a QB in the first if he's not a reach. We need the highest level of talent possible at that position.

Nice to see Thriller jump on the Gabbert wagon. He played well last night had a fumble but so did Luck.

That said, Luck had a very good night.

Yeah I have been watching Gabbert and Luck. I'm not a Locker fan. Mallet is good but something about him doesn't seem like he wouldn't do well in Buffalo.

I Tivo'ed both Mallet and Luck last night, after watching them i got to say...

Mallet looks like a legit 1st rounder, he may or may not be a good prospect... he'll never be a low int guy, but he's got a gunslinger's mindset and the arm to go with it. Luck meanwhile is falling in my eyes... i'm not sure i like him as much as i did at the start of the year. He moves great in the pocket... but he's definitely not a gunslinger... more like a game manager...

I'll have to pay more attention to their game as the season goes on... but after watching this weekend's games for the first time in my mind Mallet is almost on par with Luck.

btw: what bothered me most about luck is the only passes he made more then 10 yards down the field were when his WR was pretty much uncovered running free in the secondary. That doesn't show me has has any ability to anticipate someone coming open... except one time when he lofted a horrible pass into coverage and for lack of a better phrase lucked into a 20-30 yard completion. Mallet on the other hand threw often into coverage down field, anticipating his man coming open.

NOT THE DUDE...
10-10-2010, 12:27 PM
if, and thats a big if, i would be all for drafting clayborn from iowa, that dude will be great, either him or dareus. or even heyward in the late 1st if we trade down

Exactly! I just love watching him play out there. Granted, we will need to fix our line, I but I love his gunslinger mentality and his ability to hit the intermediate passes.
