Sabres goalie Ryan Miller is urging the NHL to "wake up" and severely punish Chicago defenseman Niklas Hjalmarsson for his blind-side hit that knocked out Buffalo forward Jason Pominville.

Miller says a long-term suspension to Hjalmarsson would be a significant step if the league wants to show it's serious in outlawing such hits.

Hjalmarsson came Full Speed into Poms from the back Right while he was skating backwards, and threw him into the boards. If you saw the replay's you see he intentionally threw his entire body into it, despite him saying he was going for the puck to make a play.

Poms was about 6 inches from shoulder to glass, facing the play, puck was on its way but was swiped away by Hjalmarsson's stick as he approached at full steam.

Hjalmarsson has a History of charging players (players no where near the puck), but hasnt been dealt any form of fine/suspension I know of, western teams message boards complained about him all last season,

Its said when 90% of the leagues fanbase thinks it was cheap.

The first goalie captain in over 60 years.

Goalies can't be captains because captains have to constantly go over and talk to the refs after penalties, question a call, call a timeout, etc.

Well, the captain isnt always on ice, the Goalie is :)

He recieved two games.. Pominville is out for 2-3 weeks.
